Thread: Simple factory question
Hi,
Can someone please tell me the rules for which things a factory can build?
I assume that the type of factory reflects the specialised tool that is used to gain experimentation points when crafting an item. So although I can make an item in the general tool (like food) and dont NEED a Food crafter to make, since I only get experimentation using a Food crafter I must use a Food factory to make.
Any exceptions or am I totally off the mark?

I think it has more to do with what tab on your crafting tool the item comes up on, whether you have to use a specialized tool for it or not. Even though you can make a Biscuit with a generic crafting tool, if you wanted to mass produce them, you would use a food factory to do so. I am not 100% positive on this, but I have a pretty solid feeling this is how it works. At any rate, unless you are making extremely basic items, you will probably need to invest in factories as any mid-high end item will at least require the specific crafting tool, and high end crafted items require identical components from a factory crate. Hope this helps out.
It is not about experimentation, but the ability to create a schematic. They kind of go hand in hand, but are different.
The general crafting tool will NOT let you make schematics, so yes the specialized tool is needed for whatever you are trying to make. A schematic will run in only the matching factory type: Structure, Food, Equipment, Wearables.
We have almost 20 factories in our city so if you have any questions/problems let me know ![]()
