Thread: Surveying and Creature Mounts...

I guess this doesn't qualify as an "architect" issue per say, but since many architects don't have the exploration skillmaybe this will pertain to several of us...

I just got a creature mount and was very excited about not having to take 10 mins to walk up a hill while surveying for resources. But it looks like we can't survey while riding on a mount. So instead, you have to jump off the mount, survey, jump back on the mount, run to the spot, survey again...etc.

Is it just me or does anyone else find this to be quite annoying?

Any chance of bringing this up to the devs?

Surveying is an Artisan Skill and therefore should go to the Artisan-Forum.

However, be happy that you dont need to pee ingame, I bet people would request to be able to pee right from the back of a brackaset.

Read ya.

Sorry, I wasn't quite sure where to post this. I will repost this on the artisian forum then. Thank you

Since surveying is the act of basically digging a hole in the ground I'm not in the least bit suprised you cant do it while mounted (nor would I have expected or desired to)

You use a survey device to scan the area around you. You don't dig a hole.

Yes, I'd like to be able to do this from a mount as well.

I just figured since you can run while surveying (not sampling, mind you) without breaking stride, it should be able to be performed while riding a mount. Would definately make the process much easier, don't you think?

Ok if we are genuinely talking about only surveying from a mount (and not sampling - but I bet some of you will/would want that too) I'll just remind you that in Empire Strikes Back Han got off his mount to survey for Lukes lifesigns.....

Maybe just an excuse to stretch his legs and relief his aching "b**t" And not something done out of neccessity

I just made a slick little macro the went something like this:

/dismount;
/pause 1;
/tellpet stay;
/survey;
/pause 1;
/mount;

Just make sure your mount is targeted (so you mount the correct object) and your surevey tool window is open and the correct resource selected. It works really slick for me.

I don't want to think what may happen if you try to mount that ancient bull rancor instead...

K 2 things to clear up here:

1) Burgundy, this is an artisan issue so you were right in coming to this forum

2) There are already numerous posts about this issue, we don't need to rediscuss it
