Thread: Need tips for architect
Sell what sells for as much as you can get!
Seriously - have a think about what kind of architect you want to be. Do you want to be the one place on the planet that anyone can come to and get any deed at any time? Would you rather focus on houses? Or harvesters and factories? Do you want to be bothered with BERs and uber crafting station subcomponents? Do you have a flair for arranging furniture and would you rather stock every kind of furniture in the game? Do you want to sell a slow, steady stream of expensive stuff and have fun doing something else - or do you want to be an undercutting b@stard, run 900 factories on lot swaps and try and rule the architect market?
You need to take some time and sit down and think what you want to do. Go to the bazaar in Theed or Coronet and spend a couple of hours going through the housing, factory, and harvester deeds, furniture and subcomponent prices on you entire galaxy and get a feel for what is really going on in terms of economics. Calcualte the resoruces you need for a given item and then work out what they are charging per resource unit and see if that works for you.
If you don't or can't do that, no disrespect, but you're probably don't have what it takes to really succeed in business. You'll tinker, sell a bit here and there, work like crazy and finally figure it's too hard and give it up. You need to see the economics and resoruces etc as subgames and get involved. Coming here and asking is a first step but you can't really expect anyone here to give more than general advice on resource pricing and sales that works for them and their playstyle.
So - my advice.
1. Devour the FAQs here. Really read them inside and out. Download every program mentioned in them and tinker with them. There are some great ones for pricing etc. The architects calculator springs to mind.
2. Come here every day. Every single day and read every post made. In a bit you'll start skiping the stuff you've seen before and it won't take quite as long but 99% of everything important to an architect is here. You need to work to mine that info. Asking for it on a platter won't really help.
3. Run your vendor now and start stocking it with a smattering of stuff that appeals to you. Durni Hide Couches. High Quality personal harvesters. A factory or three and perhaps the small houses for the three planets.
4. Do your homework! Think about your business model and be honest with yourself. Ruling the world is fun - but it takes a LOT of time. If you want to do other stuff, that needs to be factored in.
5. Hit the bazaar. Study. Compare. Contrast. Heck - buy cheap crap if it is lower than the pricing model you work out in step 4 and resell it.
6. Be flexible. You may need to adjust your pricing to hit something that really works for you.
7. Ask here for advice ![]()
Good luck
