Pardon me if this has been asked before. I tried looking back several pages.

I once read that factories take (Schematic Complexity) * (Total Number of Components) seconds to complete. Is this true? I'm making a spreadsheet for a few things, and just wanted to confirm with the experts.

Thanks!

I read and tested this and seems o work..Complexity X 8 = amount of seconds for build of 1 items...

When you start a factory a time per unit is one of the stats viewable via the examine window. What is that number? seconds? some wierd unit of time? Has anyone come up with an equivilant in earth time minutes?

You can also figure out how long it takes to make one unit by looking at the factory schematic in your datapad, and multiplying the complexity value by 8.

Hey, isn't the whole concept of having a factory to make products QUICKER than you can one at a time? It takes nearly twice as long for me to use my factory to make items and I get no xp. The only thing I use my factories for are items that have to specifically be pulled from crates (same serial). Is factory lead time being longer than making products by hand a problem for anyone else?

The point of a factory in SWG has never been to be able to craft things faster than by hand. Anybody with a halfway decent macro the motor skills to use a mouse effectively can crank out a single item in multiples faster by hand. (Approximately twice as fast, I believe.)

The reasons for a factory are:
1)Freeing up the time you would be sitting in your house crafting so that you can go do other things (even things offline!) while the factory spits out your stuff
2)Consistency: if you make an awesome core schematic, then you can make 1000 awesome cores off of it, which allows you to sell products with consistent stats to your consumers.
3)Providing for schematics requiring "identical X from a factory crate."
4)Accelerating crafting of items with subcomponents. Even if you do final combines by hand, having the components premade in crates noticeably accelerates the process.
