Thread: Schematic complexity affects factory runs?
To the absolute best of my knowledge, factory run times can beapproximated by the following formula...
8 seconds * complexity of schematic * number of items.

There is no point on experimenting on walls. It doesn't help anything. I assume Bandola was just using walls above in his test because they were handy to do the test with and he would be making walls anyway.

But, if and when factory experimentationactually works towards efficiencyI think I'll take at least 3 days off of RL work cuz Fivo will be one busy crafter!

Correct, it's kind of a thing of mine, I actually experiment on walls for 3 reasons:
1. When testing anything I look to see what I can test safely on, for this experiment walls fit the bill perfectly for the precise reason that it doesn't do anything except change the complexity, so if I 'fail' onexperimentation, no harm done. The added benefit with walls in this test is that I can make a large quantityto 'check' the test (120 secs x 100 walls) and I am going to use them anyway.
2. The test can be carried out regularily to make sure nothing has changed, and with wallsI know my 'sample' will be pretty consistent.
3. Forthe same reason people climb Mount Everest, I experiment because it is there.
(edit)
oops, forgot reason nr 4. so here it is
4. Experimenting on an item that I cannot do any harm to, gives me a chance to find out if I am in one of those horrible experimentation ruts, where the number of crits dramatically increases, rather than finding out when making a heavy gas with 7k+of my best steel.

It has been proven that it is only the original complexity that counts, not the experimented final complexity. If unsure try it yourself with something simple like walls, they still take 120 secs per whether at unexperimented 15 complexity or fully experimented 20+, I have made tens of thousands of walls, always fully experimented (useful for checking if you are in an experimentation rut before hitting the big stuff) and I always get 120 secs per.
Pawlin, could you add this to the FAQ ? I've seen it come up a few times lately.
I copy pasted your post here and put in an entry under the factory section in the FAQs.
