The bone armors in the engineering branch are the most resource intensive and as a result will yield the most xp per assembly. They require bone,hide,small amounts of metal and fiberplast I think possibly polymer as well.

I made large glasses, they take 100gemstone so they give good xp.

I used personal harvesters, steel, ore, and aluminum... About 250 units yeilds about 500xp each, use pratice mode to get better xp. If you happened to be a master artisan Swoops give 2k each, and can be easily sold if you get them up to about 85-90% and easily get 20k each if you sell them.

Most (but not all) things will give you twice the xp as the number of resources you use to build it (+5% for practice). Some things give more, some things give less.

Swoops give lots of xp but it's not double the resources, tho. They'll get you there with fewer clicks but much less efficiently. I have trouble keeping them in stock at 40k.
