My day today.

4:31pm CDT - Log in. Have to get my corpse which was created while running to the city directly after paying my harvestors. (I paid up 2 days on all 8 of them last night around 11pm)

4:37 - I retrieve my corpse which still had yesterdays resource haul. Find out that when auto-looting your corpse items don't stay in the bag. So now I have to manually put the items back in the bags because my inventory is too full to be able to loot everything.

4:42 - After getting my inventory set back up I decide since I am halfway out I'll make a harvestor run so I can try to work on some skills today. (most days i just run missions but luckily I had some extra cash.)

4:50 - Get close enough to my harvestors to find that they are being protected (from me) by a nest of aggressive high level creatures. Of course they did not show up on my radar until they attacked me.

4:50.07 - (yea it only took like 7 seconds for them to kill me.) Irealize thatI never insured any items or stored my clone data here.So with greatly affected stats and no items I now get to run all the way back out there and get to try to figure out how to get the mobs away from my corpse and harvestors.

5:01 - I get the mobs to chase me (cept the babies) and I use burst run to lead them away and to another nest of baddies. onc they dropped my trail they begain fighting each other. (yay Im so smart) So I circle around and head back to the harvestors/corpse.

5:08 - I get back to the harvestors loot my corpse (which means re setting up my inventory again.)

5:12 - I check my 2 wind generators. uh oh not only did they eat 2 days of stored maintenance in less than 24 hours they also need about 15k in repairs. Well I harvest all 1k in power out of both and destroy them.

5:15 - Now check my harvestors. hey at least it was consistant all 8 of them ate thier maintenance and require around 7k in repairs. so I harvest the 800 or so copper out of each of them and destroy them all.

5:22 - standing around cursing my bad luck when the aggressive mobs return victorious from thier battle with the other mobs.

5:22.07 - oh yea still didn't clone or insure.

5:32 - haul butt back out, loot my corpse, set my inventory, get aggroed andburst run back to town.

5:40 - make it back to town with no onhand cash, no harvestors, 2k power for my next batch and very very screwed up stats which means a long stint in the cantina and then a nice stint in the medical center.

5:41 - Write angry post on forum while wondering why I have to do this crap.

5:41.02 oh yea because the devs took out mining effectively making architects have to mine.

I chose architect because I wanted to build buildings. In the last week I have builtno buildings and only a few wall modules because most of my time is spent being a profession I didn't choose (miner).

then I'm told to build furniture..... yea architects do that too.

Most artisan types have to mine. Stop whining about it. It's not as bad as it could be. Think of what it would be like without harvesters.

Ok you didn't clone or insure your items, mistake number 1.

Second you didn't do it after you were killed a second time.

If you can't insure everything then shove it in the bank deposit and hire someone to go with you and kill the aggy mobs.

better luck next day as an architect i know what you mean about having to do all the mining, but if you sucessfully load up a harvester for 2 days, then don't touch it for a day and half and plan to have an escort that day. Make some friends

nether I have a gesture for you... unfortunately I can't attach pictures. If you didn't like my post you did not need to respond to it .... but no you decided that being an *** is preferable to ignoring a post you don't like and letting it just slide away.

Most classes do not need to mine because their resource requirements pale in comparison to ours and they can charge more than the going rate for resources. So if they bought thier resources they would still make a profit. Now if they choose to mine then thats thier choice.

Architect cannot turn a profit buying resources he HAS to be a miner. I didn't choose architect to be a miner I choose architect because I wanted to build things ......like say oh ...... an architect would! ...... however due to several dev decisions that is not to be. They don't even post in our forums except to announce that we have a coordinator setup up. look back through the dev tracker to see the last time the dev actually posted something in this forum that actually dealt with any issues us architects are facing. we are the bottom of the food chain to the devs and most of us just accept it and help re enforce it by calling people who question the status quo whiners.

maybe you were lucky and got to master before the factory xp fix or before the harvestor maintenance nerf or power fix ...... maybe you arnt even an architect and are just here to ensure that we don't get repaired so you can keep buying houses at cost or below? I don't know and honestly I don't care.

I question and will continue to question the reasoning behind the way architects are being treated until the devs figure out what to do with us.

If you don't like it nether you dont have to but your crap response tells me to have you kiss my nether.

vulcan that post wasnt about blaming the devs for me forgetting to clone/insure .... that post was about me even having to go out there in the first place... Architect is not what the profession suggests and the devs need to either rename us to what we really are or fix it so we actually are architects.

Its like forcing a dancer to build speeder bikes in order to dance .... we shouldn't have to do it.

Maybe we shouldnt have to, maybe we should. I NEVER have to mine, ever. I get enough materials from my extractors because I've made friends and I have a guild so I can use other peoples lots. Maybe you should consider looking for some people who can lend you their lots? This game is heavy on the inter-dependancy. Most of your problems look like they happened due to your lack of common sense. Dying the first time might not have been but going back out there? Thats like the mouse who keeps touching the food even though it zaps him. If you run 8 extractors (2 other lots for a house, if you dont need one then use 10 extractors) You'd have no problem. I dont know why you have to mine. 4 or 5on steel, 4 or 3 on ore, 1 on aluminum, 1 on copper and just hand mine the tiny bits of chemical and gas. If you still think that architect is dumb, quit. Theres a lot of architects whining about the problems with the class. You have to understand theres a ton of crap that comes with being an architect, so if you dont wanna deal with it, I suggest you be something else, it'd probably be more fun for you.

I have been soloing as an arch since beta. I have a guild to help me with lots, which pretty much means I get to do a lot more mining and share the resources with the rest of the guild.

You should learn to fight. I rarely get killed solo in the field. I am constantly seeing people (not necessarily you) that have a liver of health and huge action and mind pools. They have the life expectancy of a baby rill. Work up to pistol 3 in marksman and you will survive a lot longer.

I don't like the fact that architects are what used to be miners, but that is the way it is right now. I do expect the miner profession to make a comeback in the next year, but right now we are miners in part. You know it. Deal with it. Sorry to be blunt, but right now that is the profession. If you can't take the mining, you won't be an architect long.

Cloning is basic. Alway do it. If you die uncloned, for heaven's sake don't make a post complaining about it, unless you are being deliberately self-effacing for comedic effect. I know that is not your main point, but you sure pressed that point alot in your post

Suggestion: buy a probot. They have saved my life more times than I can count when I get aggro. Also, they can be structural crafting stations!

Really? Never saw anyone advertise a probot with construction module, I'll have to find me one

The path of the Architect can have it's high and low tides. Try not to anchor yourself to the sea floor and just roll with the waves.

I gotta stop hanging out with mon cals.
