Thread: Novice Architect Seeking Advice
My question is this, Is there any way to minimize critical failures aside from advancing up the skill tree? Should I consume spice before I attempt and increase my mind/focus/Willpower?
Is there anything? Has anyone experimented with increasing their focus & willpower before constructing?
Or is all of this just something that I should accept and allow myself to place my fate in the hand of some insanely strict random number generator?
Thanks for any help.
There is no definitively known way, but the popular theory is that better tools and better resources will help.
We have more evidence from the devs that higher quality resources help a lot, and a lot of people can confirm it semi-empirically through anecdotal experience. Note the schematic wants specific statts, and for most architect stuff it's Unit Toughness that matters.
Better tools should help, but we can't prove it. The next big patch is supposed to make it so we can see the quality of tools in their description, so I'm thinking it MUST help, or why bother?
I took spice once, and only once, to put together two fusion generators. I got through the first one just fine, and while putting the second one together I was puking. I have seen no difference if you are survey and building stuff on the crits nor have I seen wounds play any role.
There are a few things, like the tools, which I haven't noticed any difference, or resources, I have personally noticed a difference, specailly when I can reproduce crit failures using bad materials for things. It has gotten to the point where I expect a failure when using bad materials and know when I got the good stuff in tonot even think twice about it.
Also as you move up the branches, crit failures become more common until you hit master. This seems to be true for several professions. The smugglers complain about this all the time.
