Thread: Those who are master architect.... factory xp?

When I was striving to get Master Architect I was semi-mad at the fact the factory xp went down to only 10%, but after I got Master Architect I actually feel it is better this way.

Since getting Master Architect I had easily got 100,000 exp in one day from just using the factory to make structure modules to make walls. As of right now I could lose a whole row of skills and get taught them all back with the exp. I don't think I did as much grinding to get Architect as I did for Master Artisian.

All my exp was from making stuff I wanted to make for myself and for a few sales here and there. I would say just turning all my harvesters to meduims and then to heavy I got half of the exp I needed for Master Architect. After stocking my vendor with all the furniture I could make (in a good amount so items didnt sell out) I had enough for another 1/4 of the skills.

The only thing the factory xp changes is instead at first you have to make all the structure modules and walls by hand, which I dont feel is that bad, it should be hard to level up.

It wasn't until after I hit master architect when I really started using my factory. Now I use it for just about everything that I have to make more than 5 item for.

I know some will say that it sucks when there is identical pieces u need the factory for, and yes I agree it sucks, but it such a small portion of the exp u need, that I dont think it matters. Someone else said this but Ill say it again: The best thing about factories is you dont get crit failures and you don't have to waste hours of your own time crafting item after item.

So for one Architect who has traveled from bottom to top, I think the Factory XP is fine, if I had to change anything I would just change it so there isnt as many deeds that need identical parts.

I absolutely agree. I just made Master Architect last night. I also did it without a guild feeding me cash and items. I wish I had known about the factory exp thing when I first started, but they changed it right about the time that I started using mine.

If factories still gave 100%, you just know someguild with money and ore to burn will simplybuy 5 strucuture factories and give themto someone's alt char. That mule would be a Master in a couple ofdays without ever making a single bloody brick by hand.

The grinding is hard, but it can be done. Once you hit Master, you never have to make another brick by hand again. Keep your eyes on that prize.

Cheers.

I made it to Master a week or so ago.

The only time I've had a factory placed is when I made 20 identical Structure Storage Modules for large houses. Might have been half an hour or so.

I don't think the change has much of an effect on architects at all, except maybe those that want to build Large Harvesters as soon as possible.

And even then, architect is so butt-easy to master compared to other crafts, it's not really much of a big deal, in my opinion.

I did not have a guild back me either, just lots of time on my hand. Everyday I would just burn through what ore I got out of my harvesters, take about an hour or so, and then im done with the grind tell later.

Most people didn't even know about the bonus until after it was fixed and back in the day factories were a big deal to make.

Although we have alot of issues currently we don't have it as hard as some of the other crafters. I have a friend that plays sitting right beside me who went the Armorsmith route. Sure his stuff doesn't require many resources to make but he also doesn't get as much money either. He has to get 50k exp for a level 3 skill but his comes from making 5000 x 100 exp items and that IS with practicing. I can make a structure module and get a little over 500 exp each. Now granted this doesn't reduce the number of resouces needed because 15,000 resources to get 30k experience is for both of us. It's just the architect gets to do it 300% fewer clicks, which turns out to be much faster and less wear & tear on the hands.

I used a factory to get one box of XP. Since then I've been convinced 100% factory XP isn't necessary for architects at least. For example, I took a bigorder the other day: 3 medium chem extractors, 1 mineral, and 1 solar. I started with nothing already made, and about 96k xp into Furniture 4 (takes 121k).

By the time I was done, including 1 wall failure and a few blocks that failed, I had made enough xp to get furniture 4 and have 90k left over for Houses 4. So basically this one large order, which took me probably an hour to fill, netted me an entire level 4 skill box.

I'd say that's enough xp without a useless grind. I did far more useless grinding to make master artisan.

** Factory XP, just say no. It makes sense as it is. **

After doing that 33k grind to arch, I thought it would take months to get master. The first thing I went for was that factory. After I got that it took about a week to get master. After that, it got nerfed. It was surprising fast, maybe too fast. Now my architeching motivation is shot. I still have 30 harvestors to make that I haven't touched in two days. I guess I am doing that tonight then. Still the profession is alot of fun, and doing all the wheeling and dealing to get the cash to keep the harvestors going was a lot of fun. Kinda sad it is all over now.

FYI I made it to master artisan and novice architect/weaponsmith and armorsmith without using a factory once! Talk about a grind... and no, not a single pirce of boen armor either.
