do heavy mineral extractors fill the same area as mediums, or do they take up more squares when you place them? I have 5 mediums in a very tight spot (lots of surroudning harvesters no extra room to build). If I tear up the mediums will larges fit neatly in place?

I'm no expert...

But I have switch mega for a medium many times and they seemed to fit just fine in same space. That was for mineral harvesters only though. Suspect though that it may not be true for all harvester types.

It seems to me having pulled up a bunch of Meds in favor of a bunch of Heavies lately that they have the same footprint. I can't comment on chems yet and of course not flora but gas and minerals do. Fusion Gens have a bigger footprint than Solars though.

Heavy/Medium Mineral harvs have the exact same footprint.

I've not made a medium chem, but the heavy chem appears to be a 2x2 square.(it could have been 3x3, I didn't pay that much attention, but the building is kinda small)

I've not checked any of the others yet.
