Thread: non-PA no-build zones around PA Halls?

I was just curious if there would be any kind of no-build zone placed around PA Halls that applied to anyone placing a structure that is not in the PA. I'd love to see it, but what with not many PAs out there at the moment, I figure there's not much talk about it.

During beta you could place buildings wherever you wanted to, with no regard to any PA. I remember our PA hall was roughly in the same area of another PA's houses, so all our buildings were intermingled.

At the moment we haven't seen any houses outside of our PA hall near coronet, although I'm sure there will be people moving in soon so that they can have prime real estate when it turns into a player city.

Thanks. I was actually hoping to get a BHSS reply

Hopefully we won't be far behind you as soon as Wanderhome comes up...

Yeah...we planted our PA hall 2 nights ago. The first day we had 2 ppl plant houses right next to our hall. And I mean, right next to it. Thats just dumb. And other than asking them to move, there is nothing you can really do about it. Which is lame.

There needs to be a non-PA non-build zone around a pa hall and there also needs to be the ability to attack other ppls structures.

A nice idea in theory, but unless the area is *very* small, it's too open to exploit, or at least larget PA's shutting single players and smaller groups out of resources, areas they might like to build on, etc.

That said, I don't think people should be able to come up and block the entry to a PA hall with harvesters and such, as has been done before just to grief them. I think an 'apron' of no-build area in front of a PA hall's doors as part of the footprint would be a good thing. That means "no build" for *anyone* including the PA members.

However, land is land. And there's a finite amount of it. People are going to be able to build where they like to. This may change with the implementation of player cities if there's any sort of "zoning" enforcement allowed, but the devs will have to be very careful how that's implemented. Simply having enough people and/or enough resources to build or buy a PA hall doesn't need to give an group the right to dictate where somebody else paying the same monthly fee can build.

Of course, that needs to be moderated with a little common courtesy. Intentionally going and plopping down structures so to mess up the layout and design of a large group trying to build a community is also grief playing. But it goes both ways, and the game needs to err on the side of making sure that nobody can dominate the landscape from other players honestly trying to just set up shop, play fairly, and get along.
