What do these numbers mean exactly? When I experimented on the effectiveness of a crafting station, I had a great success, and the Functionality Rating jumped frmo -11.9 to 5.5. What exactly does this mean? And what is the best you can get?

Same thing for crafting tools. Great success from -9.17 to 5.53. Does this make me craft better or something?

Thanks,

According to a post I remember reading on bte DE boards by Thunderheart...the effectiveness numbers affect your chance of critical failures during any part of the crafting/experimentation precess. Sohigher numbers = higher chance of averting a critical failure.

I think hand-held crafting tools max out at +15 effectiveness with +12to +14 as the averages you will get with ordinary resources. Crafting Stations max out at about +45 with anything in the +42to + 43 range consdered exceptional. +32 or so is achievable with decent availability resources. For the best, you will have to dig deep to find those hidden hoards of exceptional resources.

Look for the Crafting Assistant post for a great excel spread sheet that help you understand how all the numbers work!
