Thread: Using schematics...
Quick question...
After making a schematic...do I have to be able to load factory with the same *TYPE* of resources or the exact *same batch* of resources that I used to make schematic?
Simple rule, if the resource you use in the schematic will stack with the resource you use in the factory then it is ok. In other words it is not enough just to use 'X-Type Steel', you must use 'X-Type Steel A-Name'. If in doubt check the schematic in your datapad, or the ingredients list in your factory. Oh and if the build requires pre-made components such as storage modules, generator turbines etc, then these must be IDENTICAL, i.e. they must have the same serial number and therefore must be made as a batch in a factory (the exception here is wall modules, which can be any old wall module you happen to have lying around).
If your making say walls then the structural modules don't have to be the same serial number because all the schematic will say is "Structural Module" same goes when useing walls or structural modules in other schematics..
Are you asking about using from the same stack vs. a different stack of resources? As long as the named resources match you're OK. When you load a schematic in your factory it'll give you an option to list the ingredients. It'll say that it requires 150 Bromofoate, 50 Axamiciiam, 50 Trifourgism. As long as you put those named resources in the hopper you're OK. Doesn't matter where they came from.
When you use subcomponents in a factory you have to make sure that the ones you put in the hopper have the same 8 character ID that the schematic was created with.
The resources have to be the exact same resources you created the schematic with. If you usedDuralodwa Kelsh Copperin your Generator schematic, you can't substitute Dimnecaiate Kelsh Copper in the factory run.
When you load the schematic in the factory, wait a few seconds and then look at the component list from the radial menu. It will tell you the exact resources you need to make the run. Looking at the schematic in your datapad should as well.
I sometimes wait for a resource to dry up before deciding what to make with it.
