Thread: Harvester Power Consumption: Does Anyone Get It?

I'm sure someone out there must have figured out the formula for the actual power consumption of a harvester. The reported consumption rates of 25/50/75 for Personal/Medium/Heavy are not even close to accurate.

Here's what I have figured out so far:

-- Power with potential energy greater than 500, when added to a harvester, shows up in the "add power" window as MORE than the actual number of units in your inventory. Power with PE > 500 will show up with a multiplier = PE/500.e.g. 1000 units of a PE 750 power resource can be added to a harvester as 1500 energy.

-- In a few experiments I've done, my harvesters have consumed power (as reported in their status windows) at a rate of about 1.5 times their reported rates.

Can anyone tell me anything else? This really doesn't make a lot of sense. What's the difference between PE 100 and PE 500 energy?

My problem is I get everything up and check status, status shows enough credits and power to run for 1day 17 hours for BOTH. I go back 12 hours or so later and the status is way off of each others, I might have a day and some odd hours left for credits but only have 4 hours left in power. What the hell is that about?

There are only two things that are infinate. The universe and human stupidity. Im not sure about the universe.

Actually, we do "get it".

The actual "energy" that you get from a stack of power is max(1, (PE/500)). That is, a PE of 200 will give 1 unit of energy per unit of the resource. A PE of 750 will give 1.5 units of energy per unit of resource. This has been in effect for 3-4 months now.

There are 1-2 bugs associated with harvesters (maybe just heavy harvesters) and power. The status display is bugged to show incorrect power. The workaround is to turn the harvester off and then on again before you check the status. There have also been reports of harvesters eating power on redeed. Again, the workaround is to turn the harvester off / on / off before redeeding.

The display is simply bugged, and has been for awhile.

If you turn the harvester off and back on- you will notice that the surplus power will jump back up to where it's supposed to be.

If you re-deed without turning off and back on, then whatever surplus power should be there, will be gone.
