Will there be a patch where they actually burn out after their duration expires or how about furniture decay.
ATM architects make money from other items eg harvs and structures.

I think it would be quite cool to be able to make Bulbs for the lamps when the duration runs out

I don't know if the DEV's have even recognized that the candles and lamps are not decaying correctly. Its kind of obvious but I don't think we've heard a peep out of SOE on it. So no word on a patch either.

Even worse, I sell crates of lamps on my vendors. Now, they are starting to decay within the crate before they are popped. So the crate says lifespan of 0. However, if you start popping them out of the crate, only the very last one in the crate is actually dead. The rest of the lamps in the crate have their normal lifespan left. Now who is going to buy a crate that says lifespan 0? So, to sell the lamps, I'm going to have to pop individual ones off their crates and load up the vendors with dozens of lamps that may or may not decay in the vendor's inventory. I think lamps& candles were added so that architects had consumables to sell, but in the end there's no incentive to buy them and no effective way to sell them 8).
So, I'm going out of the lamp-selling business. I just can't take it anymore....ARGGGGGHHH....

please guys, think about it before you cry for a change.
first off all, i am long enough architect in this game to know how such would end.
2nd, as it stands right now candles decay, as soon u pick them up and try to replace them they do not burn anymore which is working nicely in my opinion. so they follow the rule, set them down and do not touch again untill u wish another place, then buy new one. i like it alot this way!
why? cause IF they would burn out as u wish after the 14 days or so, then almost nobody at all wopuld bother buying them. period
even i as a architect since beta would NOT bother making them for myself if they would be gone after 14 days as you wish for.
it would end in a rediculous redecorating every some weeks, not worth the trouble for some deco.
furniture decay? forget it, same thing.
get it please we build things which serve 0 purpose beside nicer looking (even takes up valuable space in the houses aka item limit). alot ppl would NOT buy anything at all if it would decay.
please think wisely about this wish you had, if that goes life you will get exactly oposite from what you wish for, that is lower sales which u would get from it.

I don't want Lamp and Candle decay ... or furniture for that matter. As has been stated, it's would be a nightmare having to redecorate every 2 weeks to get that jjjjjjuuuuusssssttttt right on top of that table.
However, I do support having them changed so you need to replace light bulbs and wicks. That way, I only need to drag and drop them onto my current candle/lamp to get them to light up again.

The lightbulb/wick thing isa great idea.
As far as furniture decay, it would have to be set long enough that it isn't a pain. If I had to replace a couch every two weeks, I just wouldn't bother buying one. But if I had to replace it every three or six months, that would be considerably less annoying.

Well, it's not really my idea. It has been suggested countless times by various Archs on the forum here.
But I highly doubt it'll go anywhere. It's probably in the same alternate dimension as furniture colourization.

I wouldn't mind true decay on the candles/wick/bulb.
And actually I think furniture decay would be neat. Not a quick decay mind you but a very slow one, over time that shows physical manifestations of decay. Wouldn't it be great to walk into a room and see your old beat up comfy chair starting to show stuffing thru the cover? It adds to the decor of the room...altho - some people might not like it. Heh - but architects could also repair them with a repair furniture tool also to make it interesting.
lol - I just had a vision of a big, fat wookie sitting his hairy butt down on an oldchair and the leg snapping underneath him. Oh! The RP possibilities! Tee hee!

I don't even want to think about rebuilding my movie theater every few months.
