And here's what the FAQ says:

"Q-3.6 : Can you build me a fusion with extraction rate 15, 16, etc?

A-3.6 : Currently the maximum possible extraction rate for fusion generators is 14. It was previously possible to make fusions with extraction rate of 16 and there are some that came out with rates of 25 or more (probably buggy) however the current extraction rate maximum is now 14."

While it's mostly true, it isn't very detailed. Here's what I know: The "probably buggy" BER20+ Fusions were only makeable for about 2-3 weeks in lateNovemberorthe first part of December, 2003. Whether this was a bug, or an intentional change that was rethought and changed again, has never been clarified to my knowledge.

I do know that the CSRs are NOT deleting the deeds for these Fusions,nor are theyaccusing people of exploiting for using them. Personally I've bought and sold 3 of them in the past 6 months as they are quite a rare item and a pretty decent investment, since they're unlikely to make those rates constructable again. The going rate on Ahazi for one of these is 3-6 million credits...

What's with the "mostly true" comment? I say "probably buggy" which is obviously an opinion. Are there any facts in the FAQ that you dispute??

What further detail do you think is really necessary to have in that FAQ?? I could elaborate on the "probably buggy" bit some. But I don't see the point.

Have you personally talked to a CSR about the high BER fusions?

I've seen CSRs say that a gun with a 41% damage slice is OK. And thats obviously not right. I really don't consider the second hand opinion of a CSR to be worth a pile of corellian beans. I don't think the high BER fusions are "exploits" eitherbut I wouldn't delcare they aren't considered so by SOEwithout an official comment from SOE on the topic.
