I haven't been playing on my Architect in a few months and I noticed they made alot more items "crate-able" like vehicles. Did they do the same with Ore Mining Units and other architect components?

OMU's have been broken, as far as crating, for quite some time now. I suggest you just get packs ready to store them and put 50 loose in each pack....that is the only way to do it at present.

I set the materials aside for them and make the OMUs as needed. Then move them directly from the output hopper to the input hopper of the factory I'm making the Heavy MMIs in. With a little plannng you don't end up with a bunch of 'em laying around. Just some good steel and inert gas, along with an extra schematic in the data pad.
That doesn't mean I don't find it annoying and it shouldn't be fixed...

Good advice. I generally just pack them until needed.

I generally don't make parts unless I'm planning on using them. The only exceptions are structural modules, walls, power cores and structural storage modules. And usually if I have leftover harvesting mechanisms, I handcraft harvesters.
