I am sure someone has vented about this before, but I just figured it out and it really bothers me.
I try to make a lamp, it uses 2 lighting units like torches, go to make those, they require electronic GP modules, and that requires that I get better at cooking and master artisan.
What is the point of having architect be based on the engineering boxes if you can't make basic architect structures without mastering all of artisan? I don't want to surrender brawler 0/0/4/0 just so I can learn desserts and sow pretty dresses and finally learn to make an electronic engineering component for architecture. I am already useless enough in combat as it is.
Does this strike anyone else as, less than ideal? Should I pester master artisans and buy tons of schems and just call it a day?
I just feel somewhat ripped off by the fact that I need to learn to sow pretty clothes and bake tasty desserts so I can finally make the electronic components I need. I don't mind challanges but when it is something so illogical as baking to get electronic skills it really bugs me.

Architect is not the only profession that requires Master Artisan components. Just ask your neighborhood Droid Engineer about it
It's all supposed to be part of having profession interdependence.
I can only assume that intergalactic space-torches need to have an electronic ignition.

DE's couldnt live without master artisans. Which is why most DE's are Master Artisans. 144 items are directly related to Master artisan. Where architect only has a few

Yeah it is stupid though that you have to use items from artisan. There is this one person in my galaxy though that sells crates of electronic gp units for a little 1k. Pretty good deal I think.

Its smart to pick up master artisan anyways if you are a crafter. Extra sales from components, speeders, and other items come in handy. I dont think you are going to make a million of these so you could just ask an artisan to make you a schematic for the components you need and store that schematic and the resources for it on a vendor. When you need some simply pull them and do a run. Or have them make you a few crates.
I kind of like one crafting profession to rely on another.

If you're just going to mule yourself, you might as well play a single player game.

Can anyone recommend good fighting skills that are effective for an architect/artisan that don't take up too many slots? At this point I can't see how I could get both architect and artisan. My combat skills are basically marksmen 4/0/0/4, brawler 0/0/4/0, scout 4/0/0/4 (I think, its the CH line), novice CH (0/0/0/0) and just the skills on my medic to use/make stimpack Bs.
I'd like to be an effective architect and make what I need but I don't want to have to go to a different server to fight.

I'm not interested in being a fighter but the tiny little bit of combat skill that comes with it will be useful. *sigh*
Lightsabers....heh....second character slot...heh...a merchant correspondent needs not these things.
Edit for spelling.

Its to the point where I think I need to start buffing up for resource runs. So far I've managed to get away without it by waiting for the spawns to disappear and making runs the night before a reset. They ever figure that bug out, I'm in trouble. Recently had to give up Rifleman; I'm constantly gaining and losingRifleman,Master Artisan, Medic, or Master Merchant, trying to satisfy the need of the moment and that's getting damn expensive in fees to the trainers (like I got more time to run around getting training from PC's)

Maybe not, but the architect needs the 10 extra lots that the 2nd character will bring.
