Thread: quitting crafting?

Some of the best crafters in the game - armor,weapons,droids, and Architects are in the process of liquidation and retiring to either a combat character, a new game not of SOE, or just quitting games alltogether. I know I am in the process of this myself as I will not be able to continue my present business since Architect is not an overnight success. It took me 4 months to even start selling stuff but as a architect I could not do anything else so I made stuff. Now with no where to put all my stuff I will no longer be interested in a crafting profession. If your doing the same just do a "here here" reply as there are other complaining threads im just curious of the people taking this route.

Well I am not going anywhere. I have been here since launch and always played an architect. It wouldn't be the worst thing in the Galaxy if a few Architects and One tree wonders left the server I play on. You can't throw a dead womp rat across the starport without hitting someone yapping about selling this or that deeds.
Business is still good for me personally though and I don't see the merchant changes making things bad for me unless there is a massive exodus of regular players.
I keep my vendors stocked and am a master merchant. I don't usually go over 100 items per vendor anyway. I sell the smaller items in crates (like plants, furniture items, etc) I suppose I will just wait and see.
I am not sure how JTL will affect the ground game. Everybody who buys it gets a starter ship but Shipwright might be something I will do with an Alt I have. I have a feeling that without the GVW and Combat balance being done before JTL we are going to see a massive DECREASE in normal architectural sales. I suppose the resource market will still be big for awhile because of ship building.
We will loose a lot of Architect and Architect wannabees (the one tree wonders, you know who you are). They will become Shipwrights. This COULD mean more business for those of us who keep Master Architect. It all depends on whether there is an influx of new players. If JTL bombs or is even mediocre in bringing back or acquiring new players we could be in trouble.
My advice to all of you. Stay loose and don't make any rash decisions right now. What am I doing? Stockpiling resources (minerals) Saving cash and keeping my prices up. Any time I see an deed vendor with cheap deeds (50-60% of real value) I buy them. They may not sell right now but if things go well with JTL and SOE gets their sh*t together (longshot) I will be in an excellent position to capitolize. If it all goes into the toliet then I will probably be playing EQ2 or WOW or something else anyway this time next year.

well i have 3 accounts and two of those are dedicated to crafting and being a master merchant, master architect, master doc, master politician and a smattering of other bits n bobs like tailoring...if the merchant nerf goes through i will be unlikely to actually leave the game but i will most definitly deleteand cancel two of my accounts, this is of course not a "do as i ask or im quitting" post but simply a statement of fact for any devs who may be reading this is simply the repurcussions of the potential new nerf.

As long as it is viable I am an Architect, that is why I signed uo for the game a year ago and nothing has so far persuaded me to change, I am here until it becomes impossible for me to xxxxx (what is the verb we should use here ? 'craft is to general, do I 'arch?)

From I beta know that Architect is pointless profession, but I like it. Like I like smuggler profession even if now I more pointless that Architect. So devs can make use less pointless… well sure they can, but they now busy with Merchants, and Jedi so we can sleep well

But it is going incredibly slow at the moment and i am loosing vast sums of cash, but i guess thats what happened to you all in your road to glory,i didnt play much this week coz it was my birthday yesterday

Although I love the Architect profession - that's basically all I've ever done. I would really only be cheating myself if I didn't try other professions. (how many are there - 32 ??)
We all know, we can always and easily come back- it's just a few clicks away...lol.
I feel, with JTL, Jedi revamp and the end of Hologrinding, the future willbe much different in many many ways for the "new" architect - (and I don't mean just the proposed vendor changes either).
From first starting the game, Iwanted to be an Architect but it isn't my life.
The path to the force - is different for everybody and the Galaxy is a very large place.
