K sorry guys if im posting too much but ive never made a crafter toon (only been playing 2 and a half months) and am starting one. Can anyone tell me the whole basis of harvesters. Do u just pay for maintenance and then they harvest? I heard something about using energy to run them or something like that...
Thx!

Harvesters require both power....either in the form of wind or solar energy or radioactive energy....and credits to run. You should start out on a harvester with about 10k in power and 10k in credits. That should get you 7 to 10 days of working for you depending on the type of harvester (it's BER, or base extraction rate). Higher BER's use more power and money. The BER 10 mediums seem to be the most efficient.
To operate a harvester, you must first add your power and money. A quick way to do so is to target the harvester and type /addp xxxx and /pay xxxx. The first command adds power to the harvester in the amount you specified, and the second adds funds to the maintainance pool.
Next, you choose operate machinery from the popup menu, and choose change resource. It's in the middle of the operate machinery box. A list will pop up of available resources. Choose one, and choose to turn on the harvester using the button at the top of the box. That is it.
Make sure to check the status of your harvester from time to time to make sure it does not run out of money or power, and also to check the bin....in the operate machinery box....to make sure the bin does not fill to the top and stop collecting.
