Ok, this is based off a previous post on the Cities and Houseing forum. Clicky

I'm basing this post of idea brought up by a9er, and Tinkergirl.

House Modules & Tints

House Modules

These are modules that can be added to an existing house. They WILL increase the maintenance cost of a house. Each house is allowed X number of modules. Small houses could use 2 modules, medium houses can use 4, and large houses can use 6 modules. These modules can be removed, and/or replaced with others. These modules can be adding them through the stucture menu. These modules can also be used in guild halls, and cantinas.

- Light Intensity - value from 20% to 200% of actual light. This is for the entire building. I highly doubt that they could get each room to work. This is a long shot at best anyways.

- Light Color - Giving the standard lighting of the house a different color. I propose only 16 possible different colors.

- Background Music - My idea for this is a little different from the original post. To be used in the same way playback modules in droids are used. Have an entertainer/musician(s) record thier music so that you may later play it through out your house.

- Private/Public Doors - Allowing you, the owner, to determine which door is for public use or for private use. Making your home feel more like a home, but still able to open certain areas to the public. The module would be created per the specifications of each house. That way the module knows how many doors you have, and when added those doors can added to your menu to make private or public.

- Windows - I know people have been asking for windows, but from what I can remember the only houses that have "windows" are naboo style. This module would allow ALL houses to have windows that you can actually see out of.

- Carpet - I think we can all figure out how to use this module. In naboo houses, this would allow you to change the carpet color.

Tints

I like to refer this as to "interior painting", also called wallcolor. Each house has the ability to use 1 type per room. This would mean that each room in the house would have to have some kind of label. example front room, main room, etc...

These tintsare listed as types, 1 through 6.

Type 1 - Comes in 16 different colors. Can only be used in small houses.

Type 2 -Comes in28 different colors. Can only be used in small houses.

Type 3 - Comes in40 different colors. Can be used in small, and medium houses.

Type 4 - Comes in52 different colors Can be used in small, and medium houses.

Type 5 - Comes in64different colors. Can be used in all size of houses.

Type 6- Comes in80different colors. Can be used in all houses, guild halls, and cantinas.

My thinking behind why different types work in different houses is size is cost. The higher the type, the more resources it will use to create. Architects will be able to determine colors on the types during the crafting process.

As always, I'll take any constructive comments. I'm on my 3rd cup of coffee while typing this out, and I don't use a regular size of coffee cup. People I work with call it "The Gunny" cup.

I responded to a post on the core sys b&h forum that included a proposal for exterior structure modules. This is a cool idea, but I don't think it would have much of a chance at implementation, because it would increase communication and processing bandwidth, etc. I think exterior color & texture modifications would have a chance.

I think interior modifications also have a chance, because they don't necessarily add to external rendering bandwidth.

I would like to see some of the options add revenue to architects or artisans. The mods should come in the form of paint kits and wallpaper kits, etc. We have seen that loot rugs are in high demand, but they really break the budget for non-wealthy players, so it would be good to have some basic flooring upgrade kits (cheap wall-to-wall carpet and tiling through to expensive stuff requiring rare resources).

Lighting in the Corellian and Generic houses is a horror (looks like the inside ofsome factories, office cube warrens, and discount stores, to me). Control overlighting would be very good, especially the ability to dim it or turn it off if lamps or candles are present (something like this was supposed to be the plan, in my recollection).

Public/private door control is a good idea. However, it might be hard to match with the various layouts, sincethe simplestdoor control scheme on, say, a small Corellian style 1 won't work on a small Naboo style 1, the room ordering makes the dependencies different. That means a greater likelihood of bugs and more space in the data base (horror of horrors).

"Real" exterior windows are probably out of the question. Major rendering issues, again.

Ok, I could really shoot Tinkergirl for this. Thought more about this idea last night, so here goes.....

House Modules

- Exteriour Paint - Yep, self explanitory again. Allow you 16 different colors to choose from.

- Ceiling Windows - The sunshine is always nice to see, or moon light during a romanic meeting. Would only be allowed on upper level floors of a house, for safety reasons of course.

Tints

I'm still working on more ideas for this concept. Any more ideas?

All the modules would need component from other professions to make. For instance, the background music would need a playback device. This would allow architects to contract out work if they need to. No reason why we can't share some of the wealth. I'll add more when it comes to mind.

One of the main reasons for this post, is to get input also. Please give it.

Do you really think this would ever happen lol? I would just be happy if they figured out how to relight the large round room in the center of the Naboo Medium house. It was well lit when SWG first came out. Then in one of the earlier patches it went dark and has never been the same since...really ruins the Naboo Medium house.

NOPE! I don't even think we'll get new lamps to use. It just never hurts to put ideas out. I'm definetly going to be beating up the devs at Fan Fest though.
