Thread: Architect Badges should be in the Game. I want them anyway.
Once you hit Master the reason to make stuff for people goes out the window apart from the cash. I have stopped making most stuff for people because if it fails I loose what to much time and resources and obviously being a Master I get no exp either.
I would like to see badges keeping track of How many Pa Halls and Large Houses I have made.
Maybe titles for when I have made over 50 and 100.
Maybe the resource cost for those items would go down the higher the badge or expertise you have in making that particular item.
This way people can specialise in for example fussion reactors because if they sell enough of them they cost them less to make and they can further afford to reduce the price they charge.
It would also mean not every Master is the same because it would depend on what badge you should to try and achieve. Obviously if you went the heavy harvester badge route then any Large Houses you make would waste ore you could have used getting more harvester badges. This would further open up the market for people to specialize.
The same could be done for most Artisans professions and it should be implemented to give us another path to take once we are Master of our professions.

Master Architect Valcyn Server
bump for this nice idea.
Badges would do alot for our profession
LOL wow I can't believe no one thought of this idea before. I really like this idea. It would be nice for all crafting professions really, but especially architect just because we have no decay and the amount or resources we use on a product.
Badges are ok but come on there are better things out there.
Why did you decide to become an architect? That is the question you should ask yourself.
I would like to be able to build one of those large structures you see in the cities. Lets say that when they come out with the PA cities that you be able to add some of the decorative streets and gardens you see in the NPC cities.
I think it would be a real feat if you had to get 4 or 5 Master Architects together with say 10 engineers (tier 4 engineer) and create something big like the tall buildings you see in Coronet etc...
That would be my reward and as architects isnt that something that you would like to be able to do? Isnt that badge enough to be the city architect who was responsible for organizing and building these great works and for people to see you and know it??
So do I really want badges?? Well not really I would rather have the opportunity to build greater items by coordinating with others and maybe having a greater complexity required to build them. Something that say you had to further train in by building lets say 20 large structures to get an increase in your engineering skill.
Right now there is nothing more to look forward to in architecture once you hit master. You only ply away at your skill. Whereas combat characters can gain faction points and earn ranks and titles and new furniture and pets etc. There were hints at our being able to build turrets and whatnot on the battlefield but I dont see that happening.
How else are we to get involved with the current conflict? We havent been told. So I hope we are then given something else to look forward to. Some little reward for continuing our craft without making it another grind.
Would be nice to be able to build some of them bridges too ![]()
Hmm, seems to me being able to build more cool stuff would suffice as a badge type reward.
Say installation 5 if there were one would allow for mobile harvestors that do not require redeeding and Install 6 would give you self powered harvestors. Etc.
Boats so we can sell them like houses, everyone has so many docks they can fill.
Then, Malls, Restaruants for Cooks, and LARGE factories that crank fast and use less resources than the schematic.
Just thinkin out loud.
I want gravelbeds so we can build on uneven earth, (perhaps even do a little land reclamation,) that don't take a lot...IF there is a structure on it, (either separate upkeep, or a small multiplier on the upkeep of the structure sitting on it,)
I want poontoons, for the same reason. (build a house, or even a harvester 1500 meters off shore.)
I want those factional buildings...as general, anyone with the faction points can get, schematics, but I want them to use, as components, things made only by architects. (10 cinderblocks for a temporary small turret, 1 wall for a medium, 10 blocks and a wall for a large, 2 walls for a small HQ, ect. Thow in the other items, generators, storage modules, and such for flavor.)
I want quest-given schematics for city-structures such as the shuttleport, bank, medical center, and cloning facility. (Let us get the schematic by doing some 10-legged quest, and let it be a situation where completing ONE quest makes it harder to lay the groundwork for completing another quest, because it messes up your faction with the shuttleport people if you work for the cloning facility people first, and it'd take 50-200 delivery missions with the shuttleport just to get them to OFFER you the big quest.)
I want containers that are more than for show, (the best compromise I've found is, backpacks actually look decent on a bookshelf.)
I wouldn't mind being a bridge-engineer, or a shuttleport designer.
Money.
Most Architects i've seen make stuff to skill up and while doing so undercut the market.. Then they reach master, or close to it, and they start thinking... Why am i doing this? I could make more money selling resources... yup you can.
I do it for money baby. If you want me to get of my fat behind, put stuff in my factory, make me care if i paid my harvesters, and click alot of buttons. You gotta pay creds. Or if you want to be dumb you can buy the resources off other people and take the risk i'll break it.
Why is money good? Why make money? Money gets an image disigner to give you a full make over when ever you are borred. Money pays for entertainers to play at a party. Money buys hides at rates that make newbies think they are rich. Money buys drugs and slicing from retired smugglers. Money may buy a vehical or spaceship 5 years from now. Money buys limited edition clothing (hey i'll give you 100k just to never ever make this again, at least in this color combination) <== note:i am not this rich, but would love to be. Money gets people to run "quests".
Money also lets you retire from being an architect after you make a bunch of deeds to last forever, unlearn architect, pick up a carbine and new hairdo and your pre-nerf probot, skill up to keel, become overt whatever. And never ever need to worry about anything. That includes never needing tostiff a dancer out of her tips at the canteena ![]()
"Of course i want money. Why do you think they call it Money?"
-Devito in some really bad flick-
Money isnt enough becauseI cant think of anything I want to buy and even if i could sooner or laer I would have it all.
like those famous words I WANT MORE
