Let's say I have a 50 wall schematic in my factory.

I run 25 walls.

But now I want to make some Turbines in the factory.

If I make a new schematic will I:

a) I be able to have more than schematic in the factory, and I get to choose which one to use at any given time until the schematic chosen runs out of uses?

b) Delete the wall schematic, and insert the Turbine schematic, leaving me with just one?

c) Be unable to insert a new schematic until the old schematic is used up entirely?

a) No. you can't have more than one schematic into the factory. But you can choose between schematics on your datapad that you wish to use. So in a way, yes and no to your first question.

b) You can remove the schematic from the factory, and not necessarily delete it. When you insert a schematic, its no longer in your datapad but resides in your factory. So say you have the wall schematic in the factory and you destroy your factory, then your wall schematic disappears too.

c) You can remove the old schematic, and use a new one. Then resert the previous one, after removing the new one.

Final note, not sure if you knew this,

but all schematics produce one item, and keep producing one item till the schematic runs out of a) resources or b) the number that was entered into the schematic creation (default is 100) reaches 0.

So if I understand this correctly:

If I've made 25 of my 50 walls from a schematic, and I want to run some generators in the factories, I can go take the Wall Schematic out of the factory and put it back in my datapad and it'll have 25 uses left, allowing me to put a new schematic in.

The manufacturing limit on schematics serves no useful function. If schematics with higher manufacturing limits had a bigger data size, then it would make a difference. Maybe it will in the future, I don't know, but right now there is absolutely no reason to set the manufacturing limit on a schematic to anything other than 1,000.
