Actually that is how I did it.

I'm a master architect, master artisan. Since the day my server went live I have made maybe 15k total off of missions the rest I have made selling my wares. I have run some missions here past couple of days but that was out of having nothing to do whle factory/harvestors did my bidding

P.S. I don't think this can be done on an established server though.. It only worked for me because I knew what to build/sell to make money in the early stages of game.

My 300k is from business deals. I never do missions because of lag.

This is not about amassing 300K or any other amount in a bank. It is about building profit. Remember all material used to practice or used to creat an item that later gets destroyed counts against the money in the bank.

The challange is to run an actual business.

AncusMarcius, some people do actually make items solely for practice and learning experiencs in normal business practices (not just in games). They are called classes, internships, apprenticeships, etc.

"Grinding" is people spending money on "classes" instead of learning "on the job" to make money. Some people want to sell only the best, which lets the rest of us fill the lower-end niche.

My stuff I make is high-quality for the effectiveness. You can buy a better stim than what I can make, but it will cost more.

That is part of what people are missing out on when they price some items. A stim Bthat has 18 charges and heals 125 can sell for 250 creds. Soa stim B that heals twice as much with twice as many charges should sell for at least 4x as much since it lasts 4x as long. And you can charge a premium since it takes up the same space and uses more rare resources.

Well I figured the initial 20K or so I put in at the beginning was just a start up cost. All businesses have some initial starting costs.

dont get me wrong I am no stranger to education. The idea here was a roll playing challange. Granted one could say that all the minerals from minute one to master is attributed to education. But as in real life there is a cost. There is a reason why more people dont obtain doctorate degrees.

No I issued a simple challange wasnt complaining nor making a statement.

Other than a few weapon powerups I made early on when I was REALLY bored, I always sold everything I made. In addition, I never ran a mission.

So I guess I've done what you suggested. I'm very much a roleplayer, and what I have enjoyed MOST about my career so far is that I think crafting folks have more chance to roleplay than anyone.

I *do* see myself as a "business" I've created in game, and I do my best to provide the best shopping and customer service experience for all my "clients." Honestly, that's why I never felt I did any "grinding." Everything I did and made had a purpose, which made the experience I gained and the fun I had all the more valuable to me.

I didn't really start role playing until I hit the higher architect levels, as I realized that I had no idea what I'd do once I hit master. Basically, I've turned all of my focus to running a PA that actually has a sense of community and some sense of identiability.

If one wanted to truly roleplay a character as an artisan and then trhough architect it would be harder than becoming a Jedi. What am I talking about? Well

Take a character and start as a novice artisan. Instead of grinding through levels try and earn all your money from business transactions only. This means no missions!

I tried this and became so frustrated because it seemed a bit impossible. First you wouldn't ever grind trhough levels. You would see everything as a cost. Hence you would only produce what you could sell avoiding inventory inflation. This means leveling becomes long and tedius. Even if you become a miner you still have other problems to tend with.

Now I am not saying it is impossible but I challange those who truly want to role play to give this one a try.

This truly puts all discussions of who should do what and charge what for what products in perspective. For no one has truly played the game in a realistic manner. Why would you?
