Thread: Retiring from Structure making (too many bugs) Going Furniture instead.

Well, I've been doing this since early beta and have weathered things out on live from day one. I'm finally doing something I should have done a long time ago. I'm retiring from making installations and houses and going back to furniture making, selling resources, and components (when factories are fixed).

I'm a master architect (mon calamari) and have not failed nearly as often as some others have. I keep the best tools and equipment and make sure I use the best materials and experimentation (etc.etc. - you know the drill). Tonight threw me over the edge. For any that have been in similar situations, you know that it takes many of these situations to throw one over the edge - for me it occured tonight after weeks of frustration with our profession.

I was making a house for a mate that waited paitiently. I use my factory and everything is going fine. When I get to the first 9 wall modules, I get a zero items made and 1 wall module worth of resources was eaten. I say to myself, "argh the factories are busted again tonight." No biggie. I'll craft by hand. I failed 5 out of the next 13 wall modules. 18,000 resources down the drain. 2.5 hours down the drain. This isn't the first time I've lost something and I know it won't be the last.

However, with the low prices running rampant across the servers, and many players not willing to pay what should be paid for large structures, it just seems to me there is more money to be made making furniture and personalized items than structures.

So, I'm going to sell furniture, resources, small components, and medium harvesters. I'm doing this the whole time while waiting to get to master weaponsmith where the real money is, where frustration never sets in, where the devs have decided to spend all their time in making the player market prosper for armor and weapons.

I have played from day one and have accrued a touch over 1 million credits. Now I've built some nice items but a weaponsmith friend of mine informed me tonight that he has 15 million credits. 15 to my 1. He started 2 weeks later than me too. Hmm. What can I say? The devs never listen to us.

Don't bother with furniture. Thanks to the reduction to 150 items from 250 for small and medium houses, almost nobody is buying furniture. I've gone from selling 20-80 pieces of furniture per day down to 1-10. Literally. That change alone destroyed one of a very few profitable architect alternatives.

It wasn't a reduction, small houses used to hold only 50 items or 25 per lot. I know this for a fact because I had 35 items in my vendor and I could only drop 15 in my house. They changed it so that it is now 75 per lot AND items in the vendor don't count towards the limit.

Not true and it depends on your sever and how well known you are. I happen to make the best furniture sets on *any* server and even thought that is a bold statement it is only due to the fact that my gal is an interior decorator in real life and put together a customizable 500 to 600 descriptor creation sheet for me. So, I have finishes, effects, adjectives, furniture styles, periods, etc. on my list. All of the furniture I create looks great and fits the customers needs 100%. I build fully sets each night and am sold out by mid afternoon. I'll be incorporating a flash website with customization sheets for people.

An example for the large bed would read:

Immaculate Antique Burnished Canopied Bed

This is just an example.
