Thread: Tough markets
<quiet rant on>
I am saddened to see a new architect enter the housing market and offer prices in the 1.5-2.0 credit per resource range. I, like many of you, have tried to sell at the most reasonable price we can achieve and that the market will sustain. I would love to sellsmall houses at 6,000 andmedium houses at 45,000 (and have done so for close friends). That is a break even price for me and to do that for every medium house would bankrupt me. Even if I could pump up the orders stream to several medium houses a day -- difficult under all but the most advatageous resource mining situations -- I would still have to look at the balance sheet at the end of the day and wonder where all the money had gone. I know it is tough to break into the architect business late in the game. The older arch's have establlished clientelle and lines of business. New arch's have to make their niche and build their buisness, but it always stings to see someone start out and cut the prices so low.
I am sorry to whine, the same whine that so many have whined before. I appologize to any that may disagree about the pricing structure for housing/installations. Adam Smith was right -- invisible hand and all that. And Renee Descarte was a drunkin old fart....(see monty python if that didnt make sense).
I am finally diversifing my buisness to include electronic components, medical supplies and housing/installations. Thiswill sustainmy long term goal of a stable cash flow and happy customers.
Thanks for letting me whine. I am better now.
