Thread: It's a matter of making our case known to the Devs.

If you are like me, you get the feeling the devs don't really know about many of the ingame issues. Not untill 500 or so folks post about it. I have seen to many times people say, "hey this or this doesn't work and hasn't for months" and they go," Oh really, I had no idea, let me form a committee to form a group to investigate whether we should investigate it." Only to post later either nothing about their findings or that they are aware of it. Which doesn't mean squat.

Like the harvestor issue, I mean come on, load the game up on your computer and see if the bugs you are supposed to be fixing got fixed. It took me all of 5 minutes to find out 4 things that got jacked up. Can't they do the same? That is akin to a mechanic fixing something on a car and not starting it up to see if it worked.

Ok, to the point of my post. I realy feel that the devs have no idea about the severity of critcal fails or the undue hardship it puts only on Architects. We are the ONLY profession that loses so much in a critical fail. An R2 droid takes 929 resources total, a composite armor breastplate 502 and a DXR6 Carbine 288. They can facotry produce all of these things. We can't even own a medium house and a facotry still have more then 1 lot for each of the materials we need.

I only use factory componants to craft so the only time I click asseble is on a final combine. And folks, my current failure rate is about 40% with a 38 station. 4 in 10. If its a heavy class thats 4 x's 26k in resources. Do you have any idea how insane that kind of loss is? It's not that others fail more then we do or that we feel it more because everyone fails and yes we do feel it more. It's about fair.

It's not fair that a weaponsmith can not only lose so much less on a critical fail but they can succed once on a schematic for a master lvl item and them pump out up to 1000 of these with no risk on the 1000. So you say factory produce deeds. Are you kidding, Run the numbers, you will lose one harvestor's worth of materials on the schematic and then how do you come up with enough resources to do any kind of a factory run? The ore doesn't stay on a planet long enough to have the quantity needed to do that. Remember you need the same kind of ore for the assembly of the wall modules etc.

Bottom line is that, yes our profession as a whole does work but isn't fair. Something has to be done about critical fails and architecture. Yes everyone crits but its completely different with architects. And the problem in the first place starts with why there is some much failure in the first place.

I ask all of you and our corespondant to do what we can to get the devs attention to investigate and also to respond.

Agree completely. We are the only crafter that completes virtually 100% of the final combine by hand (only exception I have heard of is possibly crafting stations, but even that must be a rarity). I've never had a factory complete an item for me.

I get a lot of crit fails crafting stimsright now, but there is no pain whatsoever. It's completely different. Lost 6 water and 6 berries. No problem. Lost a stim, no problem, do it again and have the factory do all the final combines. I have a doctor, combat medic and weaponsmith. Architect is the only crafter that makes you wince. Also, the hardest one to make any money with, but that's another matter. Experimentation could conceivably help this a bit since master level stuff would be worth more.

As for crit fails, my solution, would be that anan architect can never crit fail doing a combine for a deed.Failures would continue to work normally for sub-components and furniture. If this seems too generous, then also make it so thatnon-mastersstill fail ondeeds.

The potential fix to schematics to limit them to 100 would have been a disaster for architects as well. Look at the stuff we have to build some of which requires up to 8 identical items (master level furniture). Limiting them to 100 items in a schematic would mean you could only make 12 chairs off a 100 schematic run of synthetic cloth or 11 chairs if you wanted to make those chairs in a factory to avoid hand crafting. There's lots of other examples as well. The 100 item nerf idea being killed was a tremendous thing to virtually every crafting class and certainly a great decision for architects.

That really says it all. An architect's risk is hugely out of proportion with the potential reward when compared to all other crafting classes and it's discouraging that the game designers won't even acknowledge that fact. I think I'd almost feel a little better even if they said "yes, it's unfair and we know it but tough luck, we're busy, our pizza just arrived and the web won't browse itself ya know". At least we would know they were aware of our plight and just didn't care - we could forget about it and go do something fun instead.

Last night I was one wall short for the harvester I needed to make, so I decided to make it by hand. I failed on 4 structural modules. I'm a master architect, that's just a ridiculous rate of failure, and I don't care what the tool quality is or resource quality or any of that. It's an item any novice architect can make - I should be able to make those blindfolded andusing rusty tools. Critical failures on any item should be a rarity for a master crafter and thanks to the wonders of mass production, they *are* a rarity for all masters except architect. The percentage of final combines they fail on is miniscule compared to ours because of the fact that they can do *all* their final combines in a factory once they create a schematic.

"we're busy, our pizza just arrived and the web won't browse itself ya know"

Nothing constructive to say, but I just love that sentence hehehe. I am stealing and saving it for certain ocasions. Thank you.
