Thread: IGN interview The proverbial last straw.
"IGNPC: Let's talk about the practical implementation of the upgrade. Why did you guys decide to go live with it when you did?
Dallas Dickinson: We've been testing it for a full month, both internally and on the test center. We were simply not at the point of getting enough feedback from people. A number of things had come out, and we had fixed all of them."
Huh. I visited the test cetner a couple times. I saw that many people near the ports spamming their disgust (plus a number of others in the field testing...) Maybe I just got lucky (man I like saying that. I don't say that enough).
HAM... confusing? To who? Comeon, the description of the attacks say if it's screing the target's mind etc.... I mean, I know a few people who wouldn't be able to figure that sort of thing out. I have the dubious pleasure of working with them. They call me on my off days to ask how to turn on the computer...
And all this about how they couldn't make tough creatures... ugh. Create a new class of armor with a new type of damage reasignment, on that a targeted attack to one pool is spread umong all three. Make it rare in NPC's for the tough fights in a new dungeon, make the materials for it insane so that armorsmiths will charge a lot, and with a small patch you've fixed everything. Which is what the interviewees miss, a few small patches would fix all their problems with less fuss, less work, lost decreased revenue for players leaving, less money spent on developement, than a massive upgrade.
"I'm going to chalk this one up to a misconception. We changed the statistics on almost all the items that interact with the combat game, but we kept their relative values the same." And the rest of the paragraph... These guys should be politicians, seeing their mastery of doublespeak...

Dallas Dickinson: I think that's a common misconception. It's certainly slightly harder for you to solo... "

I am not sure if he understands what the word "misconception" means.

LOL yeah, there's been much paraphrasing of The Princess Bride around the forums lately.
"What? We've lost tens of thousands of paying customers? Inconceivable!"
"You keep saying that word. I don't think it means what you think it means."
The fact that these baboons still have the license only shows the apparent lack of quality that has permeated LA. I'm still stunned that they have lost thousands of accounts and call us morons to justify it. Would that I had that ability with my RL work.
On a lighter note, I bet the correspondence boards are quiet these days. ![]()

The whole first page of that interview is nothing but a huge insult. They might as well just say...
"The players are all idiots, it'll take them a couple weeksto figure out the CU, then they'll like it"
I figured out the CU while it was still on test. Iwasted a goodthree days away from my main figureing out how bad the CU was. It's insulting to read thatthese morons thinkthe reason we don't like the CU is that we still can't figure out how to play it.
To find out what's going on, IGN talks to two Producers and a Marketing manager? Comedy GOLD![]()

It's not an MMORPG anymore, just an ORPG. The only thing massive is the extent to which SOE screwed up and there's not going to be anyone left for multiplayer
