So I was on our server boards and noticed that someone was looking for equipment factories. So as I usually do with such requests I mail them a polite letter with my price and how soon I could supply such goods. The guy immediately tell'd me. My price for the factory was 60K and he wanted two of them and offered 100K for both. I did my math and told him that I wouldn't sell them for less than 105K. He was like "Naw, I don't really need them anyway." So I said that's too bad and that I hope that I could help him in the future.

Well I was feeling a little ornery so I tell'd him and asked how much a DL44 pistol would cost me. He said that he couldn't make them right now because he only had 1 factory, but if he did it would be 5K-8K. DL44's only require 116 resources so at his middle ground that would be 6500 credits for one. That equates to 56 creds/unit resource. So I think to myself, shrewdly, that I'm going to price negotiate . I offer him 1K for the pistol. He told me that I could find good DL44s on the bazaar for 1K, but because he was a master weaponsmith he charges a little more. So then I said "Alright I see... So can I get one off you for 1K?"

He didn't respond... The morale of the story is this. Never price negotiate with a weaponsmith, they don't like it.

Sounds like he didn't like getting a taste of his own medicine. Sure, weaponsmiths will try to bargain with an architect for factories and harvesters, asking for them at levels just above cost, but don't ever try to cut into their 560% markup they get for weapons.

Well for one thing there is no way you are going to find a DL44 on the bazaar that is the same quality as what a master weaponsmith could make.

Secondly, since master weaponsmiths are in such high demand right now (all the ones I have ran into can basically be building 24 hours a day and not run out of work) they charge more for their time than they do for the actual weapon. So the 6k or whatever was a reflection of his time burned making you a weapon you could get on the bazaar when he could have usedthattimemaking a high endweapon that someone would pay 35k for. Believe me, you going to the bazaar was no loss for him.

Anyways, just understand that those guys are busy and if you want the real deal best weapon be prepared to offer top dollar. He probably wasn't pissed at you, just annoyed.

Since the Master Weaponsmith is such a busy guy selling his stuff at such high rates he not only needed those factories but would have made a great deal of money on the investment. 110k for 2 factories is a good price. It was his loss. I think folks don't realize the quantities of resources required to make factories. They look at the price tag and assume they are being ripped off.

Don't worry about people like this who think they're "Gods gift this game"! It amazes me how people act once they make master (at anything). Maturity is the key. Not all master's are like this. Just a few immature ones. In time, we will have more master's in this game. I can't wait to see what the market is going to be like.

Yes you are definitely righ fidgiter. Making the money he is making he was wrong not to agree to the factory prices.
