Thread: Ore Quality Does it matter for us? Fact or Fiction?
I know it may SEEM like it does affect it, but I am beginning to disagree. Here is why.
Not one place does the experimentation hints for an item say ANYTHING about quality. They do mention unit toughness, and in some instances decay resistance. But nowhere have I seen overall quality listed.
Which brings me to my question. Does anyone know for a FACT that this overall quality has any true impact whatsover on preventing cricital failures?
Also, a side question. I have made high quality personal harvesters and despite what they have rated at on experimental bonus during creation, they never seemed any better.. or any worse.
Thanks for you info in advance.
If you're referring to my comments in an earlier post, that was a typo. I mean Unit Toughness. Heheh
Unless a Dev responds to this question, we only have anecdotal evidence that quality affect failure rates. I can go days between critical failures on major components (excluding structure mods), then havethree orfour really bad critical failures in one night (wall mods, generator turbines, harvester deeds, etc). And most of the times, I'm using the same resources I did from the previous failure-free days.
I can only guess there are two reasons the Devs haven't posted a concrete explanation of how critical failures aredetermined. Either a) they want us to figure it out for ourselves, to make Architect more interesting since experimentation appears to do nothing for structures, or b) critical failures are simply random chance, and they don't want us to know this. Pick your worse scenario. ![]()
The only thing that I've seen the materials affect so far is lowering the number of critical failures and higher percentages after experimenting on furniture and buildings... Now the experimentation doesn't seem to help anything right now, but I'm hoping they implement lower maintenance fees or something to differentiate those of us who put out only quality items...
And the only stats that show up as necessary to affect stats are Unit Toughness and Decay Resistance...
Materials quality and sub component all have no effect on the finished product as far as I can see.
I know two Architects.
One says qual doesnt matter at all. All he's concerned with is "does it say ore?".
The other is more interested in Unit Toughness.
If they need any ore from me I give them the product with the highest Unit Toughness and overall best looking stats across the board.
