Thread: my factory is eating parts...
ok, so i'm new to factory stuff... u can flame me for being stupid or whatever.
so, i put in for testing a schematic for a gun and the crates of parts for the weapons (matches of course) and resources to boot... no problem.
a couple minutes later... done... i get an email? strange should take a while. So i look in the 'out' hopper... nothing, and the in-hopper is missing some things out of the crates.. strange.
ok, maybe it doesn't like the crates... so i take all the parts out of the crates, back into the hopper.. fire it up again... a few more minutes later... done 3 items made (strange i wanted 10)
yep 3 in the crate in the out hopper... enough stuff is gone in the in-hopper to make like 7 weapons. what gives?
is this normal behavior for more complex items? I'm not even getting any status messages as to why it is failing.. it just it.
I see posts like these however I have not lost anything in my structure Factory yet.

ITs very simple, though probably not by design, but more by laziness of developers, that when you start constructing something, your factory just hums away til it runs out of resources; and therein lies the problem.
When the factory is trying to make that last item, it GRABS any available resource fitting the bill much as you would when using your crafting device. When the factory discovers that it doesn't have everything to make your last item, it will just stop working and whatever it had just eaten is lost forever.
If you actually count up your resources before starting you will see that this is true all the time.
To avoid this "bug" you much put in the precise amount of resource to your factory so that it will run out of all the ingredients at the same time, else you will lost some resources for nothing.
Crummy way to run BETA, huh?
