Thread: Question for Architects using 4x pricing

Several architects use a pricing scheme where the price for everything they sale is based on 4 credits times the amount of resources it takes to make the product.

My questions is why bother with architecture if you could sell the resources for 4 or sometimes 5 on the bazaar anyway? And since there are no crits on the bazaar you can actually get more if you dont bother with archtiecture and check your resrouces once a day.

I have to agree with you. The end product should always be more than the basic material needed to make the item. However, there are a few architects out there that supply their own resources, and are able to charge less than or equal to current prices for materials. So those that harvest their own, really get enough money to support their harvesters AND have spending money.

The question applies to those that mine their own resources as well, as they could simply sell the resources on the bazaar at 4 or 5 instead of turning it into a building. Moreover, they avoid the risk of losing all of it in a critical failure.

2 main reasons I can think of.

First is that most of an architects sales are quite large. Weaponsmiths can get up there also, but getting 150k for something in 1 shot is pretty nice. During the first month or so also I found that I didn't need a shop at all and didn't even need a full time factory. Both are nice but not needed.

2nd is that there is no way to sell all the materials you mine for more than 4c/unit. With just 10 mediums you can get about 50k+ metal a day. You just can't sell that much each day. At 5c/resource that is 100 auctions I think. You would have to reload the bazaar 4 times a day and be sold out everytime. There are ways to other people but this I assume will dry out. Weaponsmiths don't need to stock up on resources everyweek. They use nowhere near what even a few architects can pump out in resources.

Some architects are using 20+ lots. There is just no way to move 800k+ material in a week, week after week. It has to stop sometime.

Right now I need structure XP. After building my PA Hall I just might become a miner and get some money of my own from those blankity-blank Millionaire Weaponsmiths.

Ummm, because I wanted to be an Architect and not a Miner. If you just want to make money, then that's fine. But if you sell all your resources, I doubt you'll get much XP because you won't be crafting anything.

Well you could get 6-7 credits or more per resource on house easy except for one problem. Architect seems full of people who say, "I think everyone should have a house so I sell low even if it means I have to sell for a lose", and people who were powering to MA with houses and selling them at cost or slightly above just to get rid of them.

The entire problem with the housing market is PAs. Period. No one can deny it. PA Architects skilling up are cranking out lots of houses and selling them for less than CDEF pistols so they can get the UXP. I understand trying to get to being able to build your PA hall as fast you can, but destroying the market in the process, a market you most likely don't care about and will never participate in again is just wrong.

There may be others doing it as well. But they do not have access to the resources that a PA trying to build their own hall have.

I am not sure there is a solution. Getting rid of UXP would be a horrible idea, but as long as it is there, and as long as starting a PA requires a PA hall than this will continue to happen.

UXP! I am so sick of UXP!

can someone please tell me EXACTLY how much UXP i should get off a small house?
I thought the % of UXP was based on the xp you got from making the deed, not every component, just the final deed.
Can someone please clarify this?

when you sell a house you sell ore in bulk.

10 creds a unit isn't a bad price.

It's not about UXP as much as it is about getting whatever pennies you can for an item instead of just destroying it. Which I can't blame them for. The problem is the artisan advancement game design, not people. Instead of blaming PA architects you might as well blame the laws of economics (i.e. supply & demand).
