Hey Master Architechs and users of Guild Halls.

I'd like to get a list of all the possible features and things you can do with a guild hall. From searching the boards i found just a few things.

  1. It would be cool if someone can list all the radial menu options from the house

  2. List of all PA Guilding features

  3. List of advantages of having a guild hall other than owning a big house and having your guild tag

So far i heard that a Guild Hall has a bank. Is it a guild only bank account or a common bank (like one in the towns). What other perks does the house contain?

I've also heard that there is no PA Guild chat channel. Unfortunately this would be the biggest reason for me to get a guild hall. (setting up a public channel is a pain)

there is a guild chat created when you create the guild.

The maintenance account for the PA hall is also the guild bank

admin can withdraw maney from it.

Is the guild chat visible on your standard chat channel also, or do I have to create a new window for it?

Blade, why do you ask a completely unrelated question in a thread and expect detailed information. People who know the answers may not read this thread, since it's about something else, andif a conversation on your topic starts, then you've hijacked the original thread and the poster will have to wade through answers to your questions to get the answers to thiers.

The best way to get an answer would be for you to start a new thread for the new, completely unrelatedquestion.

The current condition of Guild Halls:

- You can create and manage a guild with one. This is the only thing that makes them more desirable than another building imho. The guild management terminal is rather rudimentary and not very intuitive, but it works. You can, with some practice, make a guild with most of the complexities of other online games.

- Guild chat is a joke atm. Yes, you can get it, but it is NOT restricted to guild-only members. Essentially it's like conducting military discussions on a motorola talkabout; anyone can listen in. It doesn't automatically appear most times when you log in. To manually setup the chat session (necessary when it doesn't come up on logn: about 90% of the time in my experience) you have to know the number under which it was created. Our guild alt-tabs to IRC, which is more secure and which is about 100 times more reliable. I hope SOE takes a hard look at this problem. They made it much too complex and failed to give it the basic features almost all other MMORPGs have. As with the whole chat system in this game, it falls way short of 1990 standards.

- Guild Bank is essentially a maintenance pool that you can draw from. There may be some functionality that you can use (that I don't know about) to use it more like a bank, i.e. tipping from afar. But as far as I can tell, if you are on the admin list of the building, you can take money out if you are near the console in the pa hall. This has some use, but is relatively limitied. Guild Halls take 2400 a day to maintain, so pulling money out of here could be disasterous as well. Paying to REPAIR a hall costs about 12,000 per day. Don't EVER let them get below 100% maintenance.

- The hall itself is big, and is the hotel design that you can see in most cities. There are better buildings (naboo large is the best imo) but you can't have a guild in anything but the monster Hall.

- You asked for the lists of radials. Our hall lost all its terminals to a bug, so i can't list them except from memory. Once a guild is created (by the one that PLACES the guild hall; i.e., only the OWNER of the guildhall can be the initial guild leader) you can do all the basic stuff: add members, kick them out and adjust in detail the permissions for each member. Permissions include things like: change guild name, disband guild, guild email (not sure how this works yet), invite new members, kick members, declare war, etc.

- A new leader can be created by each member "setting allegiance" to someone other than that guild leader. I think this is an ongoing election and so your guild leader can suffer "coup de tat," though I am not positive as we have never been able to play with that part of it. I know another guild "The Guardians" did shift leadership from their architect to the real guild leader, but that was in beta (around May).

- Conversation within a guild hall can be overheard by anyone outside. This cuts down dramatically on the roleplay aspect of the hall. I would love to make a briefing room downstairs and conduct a discussion of our next raid. Can't do it. Spacial talk can be heard way outside the Hall walls, even when downstairs. So we use IRC instead

Summary:

Creating a hall is a huge accomplishment, and its value is measured much more as a symbol of a guild's hard work than as a functionaly building. That is lucky, because once you get over the joy of creating a really large building, the hall doesnt have much functionality above the fact that you can make a guild.

Our guild just discovered what was basically said above. The guild system in SWG has really really really dissapointed me. It's very basic MMOG stuff with no frills attached.

Our guild chat has yet to work and we use a private chat channel in the SWG chat system.

Very dissapointed...

I expect to see some vast improvements in this area of the game in the coming months.

The frills will come in time. Basic functionality is the only important thing to have at launch.

Well I won't disagree with you Rath, that basic functionally is all that is required. However I do like companies and people who aspire to do more then 'basic functionality' with their products at release.

But I'm not gonna rant. I have faith things wll improve a lot in the coming year.

Still, it's pretty well estabished that player guilds are the meat of MMORPGs. To skimp on this section seems kinda silly.

I think that's why PA halls are at the top of the Arch tree and why you need one to make a PA. The devs figured they could get an extra month to work on PA issues if they made it so almost no one could get in a PA for 4-5 weeks.

Here's a question: When the PA changes leadership, does the ownership of the hall change? Does the architect get his lots back?
