I am totally ashamed of my fellow architects. This is disgusting to see them want structure decay because they are such greedy money grubbing &*()&*(.

You all that want it are so wrapped up in yourselves and only want what's best for you. You could care less how negatively this impacts all the players. You could care less, as long as you get what YOU want and it benefits you.

Instead of trying to come up with ways of making soemthing that will HELP the players, you jump right in with the Dev Team and think of ways to hose the players, not help them.

The Dev team is already messing this game up left and right, they don't need the player's help.

I am ashamed you all would want to go this route in order to have a renewable income instead of putting your brains to work to come up with a better idea.

If you actually read the posts and the polls you find that most of the architects on this board are not in favor of complete decay. We are however in favor of a form of decay that will allow us to have a continueing market base, decay is a part of SWG the majority of the crafting classes have either a form of decay or a continuing market base (charged items). Architects and Tailors do not have either, this places us in a unique position of having a large number of master professionals that can make a huge variety of extremely useful items but no one to sell them to.

It's not a greed or a money issue, its a we spent alot of time to gain the skills to craft but without customers in need of an item we can't use those skills. With a dwindling market base we must continue to look towards the future of the profession.

Relying on the devs to keep adding new and sellable skematics for our profession is a semi lost cause, what happens with this is that for a short period after a new skematic is released there isa rush for those items but soon those items again fall into the been there done that no need to buy another xxx and once again the architect waits for new skematics so that we have something to use or skills on.

The best way to insure that the architect (and the tailor) profession remains a viable path not only for the current architects but for the future architects as well is to provide us with some means of a continueing market base. Personally I like the powerup idea for harvesters, others prefer limited redeeds or partial decay with repairs.

Personally I think some form of decay is necessary. Eventually, due to the fact that structures are almost permanent. Without human error, no structure will everdisappear fromthe game (I mean who would leave their structure intentionally unmaintained). It haslittle to do with cash, because many of us might not even be Architects three months from now when said "decay" is implemented (if it is). The fact of it is, IF the game stays exactly as it is, eventually everyone will have all heavy harvesters and a house, and many architects will be out of business. We're not talking renewable income, we're also talking renewable business. It's one thing to disagree, it's another thing to make a postto flame all architects who agree with decay and call them "greedy money grubbing &*()&*(.".

There are few other options (though a % of maintenance would be one), butall(or most) other classes usea decay system, so it seems logical thatsuch a concept would be applied toArchitects.

So please be a bit more considerate of other opinions.

How about when a person buys a house deed, they are purchasing the house as well as the land. After they place the house, they must pay a property tax, which goes into the Architect's pocket

I agree, decay HAS to implemented at some point.

Personally I think decay should hurt the efficinecy ( rate at which an extractor pulls materials ) from 100% down to about 20% while pay mantenance slowly increases as decay sets in.

This should happen slowly and based upon how many resoruces have been pulled by the machine.

They never have to make a machine go poof, owners will do that themsleves on a decript machine.

On houses all I would do is remove the ability to re-deed.

just a comment for those who continue to say that people rarely forget to maintain their house.

in the past week i've built replacement houses for 5, yes 5 people who's homes went poof because they either forgot or were unable to get maintenance to their homes.

oh, and i know of 2 others who aren't replacing their homes that went poof in the last 2 weeks because it just isn't worth the money to them.

is this a large portion of the population? no. but this week a large portion of my business came by means that people continue to say will rarely happen.

I was thinking of replacement parts for harvesters...

What are you thinking of doing in 3 months when you have all your skill points committed to architect and make 1 structure sale a week?

The golden age of architecture is over. Most everyone has their PA hall. Remember when the .com bubble burst? It's gonna be like that except there's nothing to bring it back.

I have already posted several ideas on several occasions. You want to know where my ideas are, then do a search.

Sure, they may not be awesome ideas but at least I tried to come up with something other than an idea to piss all the players off and give them the shaft just so I could get some renewable income like a lot here have.

Decay was introduced by the developers to the game to specific only products, that of weapons and armor (while other professions got consumable items). That however is unbalancing for professions like the architect and tailors who get to face the problem of the saturation of the market. To my opinion introducing decay on structures is a wayof balancing professions. No its not greedyness that makes architects ask for decay, its an act of survival, a response to the declining and extict markets.

Decay or destruction is a must if you want to have a rolling economy, Decay of structuresdoesnt need to happen in short term, it can and it should happen after a long time. If structures would decay slowly and needed to be replaced after 3-5 month thats not that big of a deal.

As for the problems with inventory in houses there are workarounds if there is willingness. In factafterif after your housedecays all your inventory is stored in a temporary one way (only taking things out) container a lot of problems would be solved (especially those bugs where you loose your house/guild though you paid maintenance).

It's not about money, it's about having something to do. If I have invested the largest chunk of my skill points towards a profession I want to actively play that profession. I don't want to sit on my duff (aka macro entertainer) and collect cash as a charity effect.

I am an architect I want to be an architect an architect builds things that people will use.

If they are going to implement decay in a sense of how Dayln put it , i'm all for it. In fact i posted about the mathematics behind it in another thread that was probably buried in this forum.

So if the developers do implement decay for structures , don't you think they would make a structure repair tool as well? ie. weapon repair tool , armor repair tool, etc.

It's kinda like the gun and bullet concept, --- would there be less killings if the guns were $500 , and the bullets were $50,000 each?

What i'm saying is that structure decay won't be that bad, i'm sure they will make the decay super high anyways. And if they do what Dayln says , then it will depend on how many resources you pull up. Now if they make a structure repair tool , say somewhere high in the architecture tree, we could repair our own structures and have people buy them off of us. (And not everyone has to sell them)

Seems like a simple answer to me, any thoughts?
