Thread: A different approach to renewable income?
Ok, you say you became an Architect to build thing. You say you don't want to become a spare parts maker or repair kit maker.
When I was only able to build small harvesters for my growing Architect skills, instead of paying the 1500 credits to redeed, it was MUCH cheaper and easier to just destroy them and rebuild. It was only 250 units of resource and I could crank out all I needed real cheaply and gain exp too.
So, everyone is against decay and rightly so. We already pay maint. fees. Weaponsmiths and Armorsmiths have decay on their items but, we don't pay maint. fees on them either so, it evens out. Either pay maint. fees and NO decay or decay and NO maint. fees.
Anyway, my thought went back to the day of disposable harvesters.
Make them cheap enough to where when you are done with them, then you just destroy them. By the time you get finished mining what you are mining, usually you will have gotten your money's worth.
Just a thought and a rough idea.
I still think part of the redeed cost should be paid tothe creating architect instead of having structure decay. Even if it was 1/3rd.
Structure decay is like Double Taxation.
Amen!
Note: the above statement is not meant to censor, restrict, or otherwise oppress another's right to engage in constructive dialog regarding decay rates for buildings or harvestors.
ok...
maybe just a little :-)
so, are you saying lower the resource requirements to stay under the redeed fees? or raise the redeed fees to make it more cost effective to buy new ones?
you'd have to have a substantial drop in required resources and realistically have to be able to purchase a new heavy harvester for less than 5k now for that to be even considered.... if you raise the redeed costs substantially (say to 20k on a heavy) you could use a few more resources maybe.... I don't know, considering the rate at which resources get yanked from the ground... i'm not sure about this one.
I'm iffy on this one too.Two reasons though. 1) SOE likes redeeding. It takes money out of the economy. 2) Lights worked well only because the resource requirement was like 250 and even at 5cr/unit, it still was less than a redeed was. I just don't see them ever bringing mediums and heavies down enough in resource cost to ever do this.
Why is SOE in such a hurry to get money out of the economy when you have architects crying that weaponsmiths and armorsmiths are making so much money when we can barely get by??
They either need to increase the cost of making weapons or decrease the cost of making structures.
Or they need to implement where part of the redeeding cost is in some way kicked back to the architects since the public doesnt feel like paying comparable prices for the items we make basically because of thefact that most of the public doesnt have a real need compared to their need for weapons and armor.
They could also get rid of the public banks so that people would be forced to buy ahouse if they want to store items somewhere. Right now everyone gets 100 free slots and can get by without owning a house. At least this would force them to haggle a little rather than waiting until some novice comes along who has a house they want at a cheap price who is undercutting our markets.
Architect economy is still messed up.
I like the bank only because I already see to many structures everywhere. We need a fix. Demand for weapons means weaponsmiths will make more than architechs, but the weapons are selling for 50x the cr/u of any structure atm. We need more money leaving the game, and not just by the architechs/miners. We need a better structured system for selling and buying. Overall, we need to make money worth more.
Hmmm, why not cut all banks and missions to 1/100th and keep everything else in place. That would seriously cut the economy back =)
Yea, it was just a rough idea and yes, I meant the resource required to make the items would seriously be cut down.
Cutting the economy back is what has hurt us. Since they have been nerfing the crap out of mission payouts, people are holding onto their money more and not buying the luxury items they once were. Let's face it, housing is a luxury item that you don't HAVE to have, unless you are a crafter/merchant.

Hmmm, I thought about this one for a few before posting, but I think the permenancy of the houses hurt us more than the costs. I see houses go for a little as 7k on the smalls. I can do that in about 30 minutes. I really don't see the economy being cut back yet, more like just slowed down for a couple of days. I see the economy as way top heavy, money is worth very little otherwise why would weapons sell for 200k+, krayt skulls for 1 million, and I saw a guy spend 7 million for a single item, don't remember what atm, but think about that. 7 million for one item?? Way to top heavy atm.
