Thread: Mediums too good now? Nope, customers still prefer to Super-Size.
The heavy mineral harvesters are selling at about 5x the rate of the mediums. I get tells and emails all the time about various kinds of heavy harvesters and very rarely about mediums. Apparently nothing has changed for the people who need more production than a small harvester can provide. They want the biggest producer of raw resources. They don't care if a medium might be a bit more efficient to run nor do they care about the price difference for the most part. If they're limited on lots available like most of us (me included) they want and need max production.
Getting 13-14k units/day of metals or whatever off a nice resource concentration with a heavy harvester is far more important to many people than getting 9-10k units/day off the same spot with a cheapermedium.
Another consideration is that many, many, many people own pre-patch heavy harvesters because they were the obvious choice for any serious volume crafter or resource seller. While the new mediums are nice and in some cases exceed the extraction rate of pre-patch heavies these people for the most part are much more interested in a significant extraction boost over their current fleet of miners rather than a tiny increase or same extraction rate just to have cheaper operating costs.

This is of course a benefit of an uninformed consumer =)
do all harvestors take up 1 lot, or do heavies take up more than one?
Yea I was never sure why many people were saying any heavy is worthless now.
You have people paying 25 times for a gun that does 5% more dmg. Heavys still pull 30-40% minimum more than a medium. People aren't going to look at the costs and not buy a heavy because it costs a little more to extract resources. The want more resources.
Not for a moment did I ever consider droping back to Mediums, that was all just talk.
Low end crafters might want too, but super-heavies are the only way to go for a serious architect.
