Thread: Harvester extract rates, has anyone tested meds and heavies
Hey people,
Ive been seeing lots of people looking to buy meds with the 10's over the heavies with the 13's. has anyone tested these and ran um for a day to see what the exact difference is between the 2. Also what is the cost difference. I know power is just about double seeing that hasnt changed but this extract rate thing ishas me sorta baffled. My old med was a 2 and heavy a 4 and i would get double the minerals but its seams to me highly unlikely that the same rate would be applyed. Is there an other varriable that is not shown in the extraction rate? to me logic would make me think there would be.
MY fussion at 23 rate collects more than the 16 but its no where near double. Im just at a loss here. If no one knows maybe ill make a heavy and run a test.
Thanks in advance

It'sa simple sum. at 100pct density a 13 BER will extract 13 units per, whereas a 10 BER will extract 10 units per, so look at the percentage of the resource times by the BER and that is how much you will get.
or put another way, a 13 BER will extract 1.3 times as much as a 10. That is why your 4 BER extracted twice as much as the 2 BER, it's rate is double.
Also the Mediums and BER 10 are more efficient then BER 13 Heavies when you factor in power costs.
For example if you find the ration of credits per hour to max BER a medium is 60/10 = 6. A Heavy is 90/13 which equals approx 6.9. So the high end Mediums are actually cheaper to operate per resource harvested. So unless you have a need to amass and huge amount of a resource, go with the mediums.
I didnt even talk about power.
BER = units per minute on a 100% spot.
So to calculate how much you'll extract on a given spot...
BER * density = actual units per minute
To figure out the actual pull per hour or day...
(BER * density) * 60 = actual units per hour
(BER * density) * 1440 = actual units per day
The other thing to keep in mind though is that a medium uses less maintenance and power, so a BER 10 medium is actually better than a BER 10 heavy.
A heavy harvester uses 50% more maintanance and power as a medium harvester, but the best heavy only extracts 30% faster than the best medium. So, a 10BER medium is more cost effectve in the long run than a 13BER heavy. However, since you only have 10 lots, 13BER heavies will allow you to extract the most possible resources with that limited space. Some people don't mind paying extra maint/power for that benefit. Some people do.
