I love my city and my guild, but da..mn, I've gone through like 1 or 2mil resources in 8 days (thats a lot for me) and what with all the decorating, building houses (decorating those houses too) new things we can build, and replacing the harvesters for the guild miners, Im sick of looking at my crafting UI... Anyway, I decided to take a couple days away and thought I'd ask if any of you other head guild arch's were feelin' the pressure too. Hang in there... In a few weeks we get vehicles too LOL, then talk about the pressure,

Hmm 10 Email orders for 70 speeder bikes each...

I love being an arch.

I feel the pressure ....

however I started to say "NO" and "Sorry, you will have to wait a week" and "Please, do not /tell, send me a mail and pay me half up front".

It works and keeps you sane.

And stick to your prices, even if they tell you you are too expensive ... if someone sells 50 medium mineral BER 10 harvesters for 15k each ... good for them.... please tell me the name, I will buy some too !!! (those customers come crawling back to you after a few days when they find out that their UBER-architect was a holocron grinder who already has no single box of architect left .. or a joker that wanted to crash the market ... a three day WUNDERKIND, until his resources ran out).

I love being an architect, I don’t even have a town but I feel the constant pressure.

Steps to fix that worked for me.

#1 I have temporarily stopped making furniture, Tell them to go to a furniture dealer and buy from them

#2 Removed the title of Master Architect, People that know me and their friends is enough to keep my building non-stop.

#3 I have stopped making small houses and personal harvesters ( my lowest profit items anyway ). Go find a newbie, he needs the sales more than I do.

I have the advantage of not building a town for my own guild, we live in another groups town. As far as prices are concerned everyone knows my views. But I will say I am embarrassed by the high prices I am charging for 10BER mediums. I base my prices by the market price of that item and the market price on my server is 75K, so I am selling for 60K, the profit margin of making them from a schematic is increasable!

Huh? I thought you were the Wal-Mart of Archs!? LOL I sell medium min10s for 50k, and some people sayI'm high-priced. I guess every server is different (im on Radiant)

You price gouging son of a bantha bile.

Even if you bought all the resources for medium at 4cpu it is not even close. How in the hell can you rob your customers like that?

Exactly right! I do feel like I am gouging them. But I stuck to my method, price a bit lower than the market rate. I have a big pouty frown on my face as I head to the bank.

It's that dang medium mineral schematic: If they fix it, your guilt will disappear

I've messed up and only gotten 9 on mediums, which makes me feel justified in charging higher on the 10s. Also the so-called going rate of about 3cpu on heavies puts even bad heavy 10s @75k minimum. What's an arch to do but increase medium prices?

I sell my 10 BER med mineralsfor 35k all other medsfor 65k. I gather all resources myself, save for the inert gas so relatively little of this gets used that its not worth it to mine. I raised my price to 40k and then lowered it again because I felt guilty. Even if the market value on Shadowfire was 100k for these I would still only charge 35k its not about gauging or undercutting, its about doing what I feel is fair.

I took the master architect sign off and put the master marksman up, have not gotten many tells since, but still running a little behind in making things. Well I did get a little burnt out so I took a couple days and had fun. Still make small houses but the order has to be over 10. Not made any harvesters in a while need to, but oh well no one has asked

Im retired, I ONLY work for my guild. But with a city, and the super growth caused by one, I still feel the pressure immensely

However I have picked one once piece of advice from you all, to stop making orders when I get them,I hate to back log but it's got to be better than never playing the game at all.

I'm not in a city but am working with a few city planners. I think that there are a few different ways for an architect to "build" a city and you might want to treat them differently.

My POV is any city that is going to look decent, last awhile, and be fun to have around has a "city planner". This could be the Mayor or someone else. That person has a notion of how fast the city will grow, what the progression that they want is (e.g., cantina first, then shuttleport, ...), and the placement of things. They will use zoning to control how thing are laid out.

So that person knows things like:

- here is our preferred house style (if they have one)

- in week 4 we'll add a hospital and week 6 we'll put in the shuttleport

- we want to add 10 new residents this week in order to expand

Find and work with that city planner to do *your* build plan. If you want to focus on major structures, then you have a tentative schedule on when you'll need things. If they want to use lots of small houses as "temporary" residences to get their counts up, then make a schematic and turn out 10-20 of them in a factory. If you know that they will want exotic gardens in week 8, then you can start gathering the resources for those now.

By doing this you can make your life less hectic. You can focus on the key things for the city's success. You can deal with a small number of people directly. And you can allocate your time more in line with how you want to spend it.

Kinda both architect and mayor for a town, nearly every single house I made also all furnitures and so on. Not that I feel any larger pressure

Master of Artisan, Architect and Merchant. I never wear my arch or artisan tags. I don't belong to a city, but am getting orders right and left.

Those who prefer building structures and harvs, hats off to ya, but I am an interior specialist, mostly furniture and city items...structures make my eyes bleed! Send your customers on Tempest to my shops in South ?Coronet and South Theed!
