Im trying to make "Manufacturing Mechanism" but when i try to make them, it says i have run out of generator turbines... I know i have enough in the factory, but still getting that error. The generator turbines arent from a crate, but it is not need. Any one have any clues? I have also had the same problem while trying to make power core units.... I was able to make the "Manufacturing Mechanism" without any problem before. This all stated about 3 days ago.... Im down in resources because of this, and down 150k from not being able to complete the cloning center, as well as 8 hours wasted....

Thanks

Check your schematic for the manufacturing mechanism. I'll bet that next to the Generator Turbine it has a (abc123) type of "serial number" next to it. That means that that schematic really really wants that serial number. If the generator that you used to make the schematic was from a factory crate and you put that crate in the input hopper, then all is well. If you used a "hand built" generator as input to a schematic, then you just flushed a complete manufacturing mechanism down the toilet.

Yes, my friend had the same happen to them, had them look at the schematic. If the next item it pulls isnt from a crate but was hand made, it won't work. Schematics look for the items that created the original item that went into it. Same issue for medical schematics as well.

All schematics that require sub-compomponents need to have those components factory made also.

Actually that's not entirely true. Subcomponents only have to have the same serial numbers as the ones used in the schematic if either the schematic only called for one of the component, or called for a number of identical ones. If it required a number of similar ones, than the object can be manufactured with hand-made subcomponents. If that was confusing, let me give an example.

You're making a shematic for a class 2 doohickey. It requires:

150 metal
1 widget
3 similar sensor objects
2 identical thingamabobs

When you make the schmatic, you'll have to of course use the same exact metal you used to make the schematic when manufacturing. You will also have to use widgets that have the same serial number as the one used in creating the schematic. The 2 thingamabobs had to be identical so you'll have to use more of the same serial numbered thingamabobs as well. However, the sensor objects only had to be similar, so the schematic you made doesn't care what the serial number is, so you can non-identical sensor objects in the manufacture of this class 2 doohickey.

The one time this actually matters is in the construction of wall modules. Since the wall modules don't require identical structural modules, you don't have to worry about the serial number of the structural modules used in manufacturing wall moduels from a schematic. This, of course, makes things much easier on you.

All that hubbub about similar and identical stuff, and I didn't even answer the original post...

Back when I was still playing a lot, there was a problem thatprobably still exists now. It seems that factories tend to see one less of each component in the hopper than is actually there. It will try to make the manufacturing mechanism, but when there is only one generator turbine left, it will think there is none and fail. The problem is it will still use the raw materials for it, and those are lost. Therefore, include one more generator turbine than you actually need when making the manufacturing mechanisms.

I would understand if it said that it need 2 things from a crate, but it doesnt say that, and wasable to make them before with hand made ones... I tried doing it all over again with all factory made stuff, it worked... so im guessing where ever u need a component it needs to be from a facory with the same code...

Thanks

Oh yes... it used to say "x identical y from a factory crate" but now it just says "x identical y". The crate has nothing to do with it. Items are identical if their serial numbers are the same. The crate is just for convenience purposes, the items don't have to be in the crate when you use them.
