Thread: Whats an exploit and whats bug seems to differ.
Bugs
Bugs are coding mistakes, oversights or parts of the game that aren't functioning as they should be (or as we expect them to).
Exploits
Exploits are ways of taking advantage of coding or a bug in such a manner to do things that one is not normally permitted to do.
It seems to me some correspondants and others think that using /nextCraftingSession is an Exploit... Why? Because we can bypass the real bug which is a critical failure? If anything the Critical Failure is a bug. How many crafters you know that has made something and once in a while he has all the resources just disappear. Is it because after making the same item over and over, they forget how to use the tools? If you happen to critical fail enough thimes, you can see there is an issue with the actual tool itself getting stuck, or bugged as it were, and that is why you see back-to-back and sometimes even three in a row criticals.
I would petition for removal of all Critical Failures, but you know what, they can't remove it. It's a bug. They can't remove it, it's not a feature, it's a coding error.
And these are not bugs, this is a wish list:
Structure factories take up 2 lots, but other factories take up one lot
Certain items made in a factory come out individually, not in a crate. Known items - Ore Mining Units
The factory owner gets all factory xp, even if an admin loads a schematic. The factory must be loaded on someone's screen for the owner to get any xp at all
If you knew the plan for large item crates, you would know there are supposed to be items too large to fit inside a crate. The Ore Mining Unit, so far, is the only thing. Structure Fac's take two lots because thier footprint is huge, to represent that they make large items.. like Ore Mining Units. And factory xp ... well thats kinda iffy as to whether thats a bug or not... I see what you would like to see.. But thats not really a bug, what you want is to save your one lot so someone else can place the factory for you to use and get the xp... Does that make the owner getting the xp a bug? I think it's WAI (working as intended)
And one last thing:
The master architect Armoire has the same art as the Armoire you get at Furniture 2
This is not true in any way. The actual case has been posted here by several people. The Master Armoire is now the tier two Armoire, and the tier two Armoire is now the Master Armoire, however the schematics are accurate. You end up making a Master Armoire with the easier schematic, with no named resource requirements.
I am quoting the 'updated' webpage our esteemed correspondant, ArchAngel, has provided off-forum to show us our 'Top 5' issues.
Before Archie tears into me for being a picky architect, I would like to say most of the 50+ points listed are somewhat important, I do agree with decay, colored textures, and so on, that would improve our class.
But to not consider Critical Failure on a PA or City Hall deed to not be a bug.. that bugged me. If they hadn't wiped the BETA forums, I could post word for word what a critical failure is considered to be. And if I had known of thiskeyboard slash command, I would have saved myself two back to back PA criticals, over 50 heavy harv crits, and, so far, one Tatooine Theater, not to mention the houses... Now I don't need to worry about a bug destroying a weeks worth of crafting in 2 minutes.
