Thread: Some noobie architect questions

Ok, grinding through and almost master here, but before I go on a wild crafting spree dumping tens of thousands of resources into my crafting tool I want to try and eliminate as much of my ignorance as possible.


Sooo... I read the FAQ, and it lists, wall, storage modules, etc things that dont play into the BER. Do they play into the hopper size? Or is hopper size effected by the same things as BER?


Another question I think I know the answer to... Factories effected by quality/experimentation in any way at all? Input/output hopper size? anything like that? Or are they berift of quality effects like they always used to be?


I bought 6 ber heavy minerals, and am hoping to eventually build myself a full stock of 6 of each type BER 13 heavies, and maybe another 2 heavy BER minerals. So building the factory first. Then I'll take a closer look at that FAQ where it talks about how to make ber 13 and start workin on that =).

1) Only experimentation counts towards hopper size. We think it is bugged, and are testing.


2)Factories are not effected by experimentation.

Hopper size is affected by 33% Malleability and 66% Unit Toughness. I didn't even think of mentioning that in the FAQ. I'll see if I can find a good way to work that into the FAQ.

But what you're saying is the subcomponents quality has no impact on the hopper size, just the stats on the resources for the final combine?

Usinga heavy mineral harvester schematic as the guinea pig i deduced all I need with stats is steel. Lucky me new steel popped with 950+ in HR, SR, and UT just today. Stuck my 6 13's on it, and 2 of my old school heavy 7s.


Then I started flipping through the other types and they all require ore =P. Is 900+ hr, sr, ut ore super rare? or do I even need it to be that good for BER 13 heavy natural gas processors?

Yes. The only schematic that shows hopper size factors is the final deed schematic. The one part that you'd think might make a difference is the small structure storage module and it can't be experimented and the schematic only lists "unit integrity" which currently has no impact.

I've seen some ore in the 900 average range for HR, SR, UT however it is not too common. I've been able to make most harvesters using fairly low stat carb ores though. I"ve had about 5different piles with average stats about HR 950, SR 600, UT 850. The harvesters don't usually need too much ore so you can pull up the average with your metals and come out ok. I think that the Extrusive or Intrusive ores might tend to have higher stats. I've got an Intruse average 950 or so.
