Thread: Assembly prices
What do all you architects think is a fair price for pure assembly of structures, ie all raw resources provided? I'm thinking somewhere in the area of 0.5-1c per resource unit used, total - fusion gen would be 10-20k. Does that sound reasonable?
I'm particularly interested in heavy harvesters and fusion gens, but a complete list wouldn't hurt.
Well since any of the heavies require factory built parts I wouldn't charge less than 25% fo the final price. Make sure you are compensating for materials that are used by the schematic. I charge 160K for a heavy so I wouldn't take less than 40K for an assembly.
Look at it this way: In my scenario above, if you have the schematics made and they provide you with the exact resources and no crit failures you need 28K resources. In essence you are buying 28K resources for 120K which is about 4.25c per unit.
Your mileage may vary.
I charge 4 credits per resource to build a structure if I provide the resources. If the purchaser wants to supply me with resources My price drops to 2 credits per resource. In essence I will build for half price if they supply the resources. If they want to give me 2 times the number of resources to make the structure.. I will assemble for free.
While this may seem a bit overpriced, I guarantee the purchaser will get the deed no matter how much I critical fail. If they want to haggle me down to a much lower price, I am willing to do that but that guarantee goes away... if I critical fail the final assembly they loose it all. It is a selling point I use, and it has worked well. Most people will pay the extra 'insurance' especially if they supply the resources.
Once I hit master I quit doing pure assembly. Just more of a headache that it is worth. If I needed the exp, then 10% was about all I charged and sometimes did it for free. Basically just free exp for me. After 2 major crit fails on stuctures people brought be the resources for I won't do anymore. 1 person understood and even collected the resources again and I made it for him. The other one expected me to make him another(which obviously I didn't).
Personally anything less than 25% I think is too low at least for the heavy harvestors and PA Halls. And good luck explaining to someone that they need resources for about 5 power cores for a PA hall when it only needs 2. ![]()
I think it varies based on where you are in the game. As a novice, I did it for free with regular customers that also purchased items from me. I got EXP to get to master, I got previous orders from them which gave me cash, and I got to help them out which in the end game (Large stuff and PA halls) set me up to be their source for the large ticket items. When it is working with other architects, I have offered to do final assemblies, but only if they help me out as well.
I do an apprentiship program on Naboo, where I provide a list of items I need (primarily walls) and a price list for what I buy for. They get a list of what I need every day. For those people who deliver things regularly i will assemble items that they cannot assemble yet free of charge.
Short of those two examples, I usually charge 1-1.5crs per resource that the item takes and they bear the brunt of a critical failure.
I routinely do constructs for people with resources. All I expect is a small tip and an extra 20% resources to cover possible failure.

Your local market indicators should help with your final payoff though.
