I once was Master Architect/Master Tailor/Master Merchant. Now I'm in the process of dropping Architect for skill points because I can't bear to drop Tailor, which was my first love.

Anyway, I think it's completely a matter of personal preference. Pick whatever you would like.

Architect isn't dependent on other professions really. Master Artisan is the one we'd use most. But other then that you can combine Architect with whatever you want.

Master Artisan, Master Architect, some of Merchant and some of Scout (Mask Scent comes in handy on occasion). I've also got a few skills in Marksman, but mainly so I can gather some hide off of CL 1-2 creatures.

Mine currently:

Master Architect, Master Artisan, Master Merchant, Entertainer 1042, Crafting Mastery 4022 and Heightened Senses 0002. Oh, and politician 4434 (soon, just a few more weeks for Master). Took up entertainer when politician became free skill points.

I'm a MArt/MArch/MMerch with enough scout for mask scent. I occasionally switch in novice tailor for synth cloth.

I've been Master Arch, Master DE, and Master Artisan. I've been Master Arch, Master DE, and Master SW. Right now I'm Master Arch & Master DE with a bit of Pistoleer thrown in.

It really depends on what you want to do. As an architect you can be a "generalist" (making and selling all of the architect products) or you could specialize in furniture or crafting stations or city structures or ....

I like DE because it is different from architect - but that also can be a downside in that the resources you need are different enough that there isn't much overlap - so you need to keep track of more stuff.

Being able to sell stuff is important so I've usually had some Merchant, but since my wife has a Master Merchant I let her do all the vendor stuff.

Just pick something that looks interesting and try it - you can always give it up and try something else.

Master Archy / Master Carbine / Merchant 0001 (+500 vendor items) / Scout of varying degrees.

slowly going to drop some carbine for FS, mostly cause I want a second character to play with stuff. I can't do much now, seeing how I'm unwilling to drop archy...

The weapons and scout means I harvest all my own hide, plus catch my own fish, plus run missions for Alderaan Flora. The latter two go well the home furnishings aspect...

Has anyone brought up yet that the best template depends on how you play the game? It's such a common question, but it feels so much like my asking random people on the street to tell me what car to buy, without ever saying whether I need cargo capacity, pasenger capacity, fuel efficieny, or [small male genitalia] compensation.

*frowns* Yah, yah, clean language. I remember my junior high days. Sorry, mod, but what we (in a nice school) said in the 8th grade is far worse than anything that been edited out here...

Why do people pay to play a MMORPG but not want to interact with other people?
Why, SOELA, why? Did the entire management join a cult, and at the same time perform home lobotomies?
It takes less time to look at the stickies than to ask a question and wait for sarcastic replies. So please oh PLEASE ask the same question many times. I enjoy the sarcastic remarks.

Best comment yet on "template" - I've seen so many different ways that people have fun in this game I can't imagine just going with a "flavor of the month" build.

Exactly! Depends on how you play the game. I was weaponsmith for awhile, because my guild needed it. I hated doing it, so therefore I didn't spend the time working toward master's. I started Architect and LOVE it. Can't explain why, but I just do, and therefore, I'm willing to spend alot of time making stuff to sell, and have pride in it. I have alot of Artisian categories, but I found I need merchant mostly, so I may keep that as I go along. Personally, I'd like to be a creature handler, and that would be just for fun too. Probably no reason for it, I just like it.
