If you've ever done any amount of surveying as novice and thentrained to 0004 you'll know it much easier as 0004. i think the difference is 32 m to 128 m. I'm just thinking if its worth it to keep the survey skill

This droid will not help with surveing distance. Your best bet is to get 1) +surveying skill tapes 2) surveying food from a Chef (can't remember which one it is)in order to increase the range.

I know the droid will be able to check other planets and tel you the resources available on the other planet (no stats), but my question is this.

Will this allow me to survey at a larger radius than 32m at novice artisan.

the reason for this is that If I go with Master ranger/ Master carbineer, i Have 17 points left over. With the new droids i thought i could temporarly give up medic to gain artisan, then survey for the resources I need. When my harvestors are palce give up artisan to get medic back. Is this doable, or will I be stuck with a 32m range when surveying.

thx in advance.

Uh - why would it? Maybe I'm missing your point here but the droids just return a list of resources present on a planet. You don't actually use them to do the surveying as such...

1. Send a droid to naboo

2. Get the results back - good, it has slartibartfast ore.

3. Fly to Naboo, survey like hell till you find a spot (at 32, 64 or whatever your ARTISAN skill allows)

4. Plop down a miner.

All the droids will do is save you having to go to each planet first to see if they even have what you are looking for. You can drop the harvester without artisan but you'll never know what you are going to get - and resources 'shift' in and out regularly, so even if you did drop a harvester as an artisan, the resource may very well be gone a week later after you've given up the skill again for medic

I've been using SWGcraft.com to see which resources are in shift (like most of us crafters).

Do the survey droids give you a % of the spawn they find?

Thanks.

The survey droids do this:

- they go to the planet you specify

- they open the survey tool that you give them (e.g., mineral) (note that they take a tool from you and destroy it in the process)

- they look at the list of resources - just like you would - and email you that list

No waypoints. No concentrations (can't have concentrations without waypoints). No stats. It's exactly what you would see if you opened that tool.

They are useful because:

- you can send them off to a number of planets and/or with different tools at the same time - then 20-45 minutes later you have all those results in your email

- without your own ship they can save you money in flying those places (with your own ship they just save you time)

Most people use them in the following circumstances:

1. You have harvesters up on a planet that you typically don't spend time on (e.g., Dath) and you want to know if that resource has shifted. SWGcraft is only as good and as current as people contribute to it - with the survey droids you just fire one off when you log on and a little later you know if the resource is still there.

2. You notice some good stuff on a planet you are on, and you wonder "is this stuff on Lok at all?" - Again, fire off a droid and you'll have your answer.

They also save you scribling down a list to check against SWGcraft, and you can even use the email as input to SWGcraft.
