As a long time player, close to 2 years, I can still remeber the first house I ever owned in game. I can still remember the furniture, and collecting all the nifty things I could find to make it look perfect and homey. I can remember how excited I was when they implemented the /move up, /move down commands, because it meant that my paintings could acutally hang ON the wall,...and not have to sit on the floor, and I didn't have to drop items on steps of the house to get them on a table. I remeber anxiously waiting for a new painting to be released so I could snatch up as many as I could find. I remeber the first candle and lamps that I bought, and marveled at how, if well placed, could change the entire ambiance of a room.
I eventually went from decorating my own house, to decorating for others. I have done decor in cantinas, merchent tents, guildhalls, small, medium, and large houses of all styles, vendor malls, and recently my own city hall. And as I am there, placing tables and chairs, positioning fish tanks, and fireplaces, I have over time, thought of a whole lot of things that I would love to see be made avaliable.
As much furniture as I have burned through, doing all these structures, I have never been an architect. I have outsourced my furniture needs by custom order, and have probably made many architect's rich in the process. I recently used my token respec to replace tailor with architect as I was tired of having to wait for a furniture order to be started and having to answer to an impaitent client why I have not started on their sturcture.
I know many of these things have probably been dicsussed here before, but these are the things I am hoping for.
VIVE LA ARCHITECT REVAMP:
1.) Furniture customization - I know this is a big issue for alot of people. As it is, nothing works together. The colors just don't make sense together. Not to mention so many incrediable things could be done with furniture that work together to make an awesome look or color coordinated. A few new pieces would be nice as well.
2.) More plants. I sooo badly want the topiary style trees you see in the Theed starport. Or the pink basket of flowers. There are several styles out there, that were just never implemented.
3.) /Rotate Forward, /Rotate Back ablitlies. I would love to be able to get my Polished Krayt Dragon Skull or Master Hunter Trophey on the wall for display as opposed to having to sit on the floor. These among other things would have great possiblities of we could rotate on this axis.
4.)Wallpaper, Paint, Carpet Kits. Wouldn't it be great if we could change the entire look and feel of a structure by changing the colors of the walls and floors? Sure Rugs are great for this. But they are meant to be accent pieces..not wall to wall carpeting.
5.) Item Limits. I was really excited when they raised our item limit on structures. Especially in guild halls, cantinas, and large houses. But why not change that to be a variable, so that the number of items that couldbe heldcould be dependent on the quality of resouces used to make the strucuture.(This is debatable I know, and could be a major pain for the architect. We are lucky to find a decent concentration of ore, let alone one with good stats in the quanity that is needed)
6.) I have always wanted furniture that could placed on our patios and balconies, even a plant on the front porches would be nice and would give us the ablity to customize so that all of them don't look so "generic", and was glad to see the idea posted here. I also really like the idea of the dimmers and swtiches for the the installed building lights.
These are some of the changes that I would love to see, I have a few others but they escape me at the moment. I don't think when the Dev's planned this proffession, they really knew how big the "decor" part of the game could be for some of us. Decorating is where I find my fun. I enjoy it, and my clients enjoy it when I am done.

You and I share the same dream. Although, if the devs ever did this I'd probably pass out from a pleasure overload

Totally agree with you and your ideals, your idea's may not be new to our profession but it is nice to see them put forward in such an elegant manner.
The standard of player decorated homes/cantina's/mall's/pob ship's etc etcin many ways far exceeds the standard we see in npc structures, even if we don't have access to half the schematics the art team do when they populate these npc buildings. How wonderful woul these places be if the colours actually matched

I like all your ideas but the item limit. The main reason I like Architect is because I dont have to worry bout the stats of my resources
But nicely put

I, for one, would like to see a different change in the /move commands. I'm an interior decorator as well and something that I've always dreamed of would be a /move left and /move right command. Yeah, we can move items forwards and backwards but then we need to turn around andface parallel to the items to spread or fan them out. A command which would allow us to move items perpendicular to where we sit or stand would be awesome and more time efficient.
Make sense?

Indeed, I would agree and it is one that I had thought about as well but forgot to post. I know when I am doing, say a fish tank, I take an ottoman, sit on it close to where the creation will be, and as I drop items, I macro them into place so that they are even.(this saves me changingmy angle due to the camera chase) This moving left and right, would save me from having to get up every few minutes to move it all directly into place. I like it

Eve,
I truly hope that we get some furniture love soon. There's just no joy in making what we have anymore.
