I'm interested in finding out how to calcluate the amount of time a factory will take to produce one item from a schematic. Does anyone know how to do this (without placing the factory, of course).

every item takes a different amount of time to make...

sorry, but the best way is to place the factory, load up the schimatic and start it running.. then from the radial menu chose examine. this will tell you how many items have been made on this run and how long each item takes to make.

only item i can remember off the top of my head is structure modules which take 64 seconds each... and walls which are 120 seconds each.

I don't know how accurate it is, but www.swgcraft.com has a factory calculator that does exactly this (and more). You tell it what type of factory (e.g., food, equipment), what the schematic complexity is, how much total resources each item takes, and how many items you are going to make. It tells you the time per item, cost per item to run the factory, power per item to run the factory, and, if you gave it a rough resource cost, a cost per item produced.

Look on the left side I think for "tools".

It should be 8 seconds per complexity point.

Or you pop the schematic in and use the EXAMINE window on the factory which will tell you how many seconds per item.

Yep, 8 seconds per complexity point per item.

Isn't that just a little daft ? I mean a Medium Mineral has the same complexity (15) as a Wall Module, where is the logic ? I cannot for the life of me understand that.

Let me see, I put my structural modules, my ore, my metal, ok that should be it, no wait it's not a wall, it's that other complexity 15 item, oh right, so I add my Chemical, my steel, myGenerator Turbine (oops better make one), my small structural storage (oops another thing to make), my Light ore mining unit.......DOH

That is why planning is so important. (But that said, even the myst ainal of us forget something sometimes and have to repeat the Homer mantra: D'OH)

I don't even worry about all that other stuff, I just keep it simple.

Start the factory and select examine from the radial.

Take the number of seconds it takes to build each item and multiply that by the number of items you want to make.

Divide by 60 to get the number of minutes,

Divide that by 60 to get the number of hours,

Divide that by 24 to get the number of Days

Divide that by 365 to get the number of years

Cal, you misunderstood, I don't have that problem, I was using it as an way of showing the different complexity between walls and medium minerals, despite the fact that they both have complexity 15 it is only the structural mods, metal and ore that are similar, for walls that is all you need to make 'em, but for medium minerals you need these, plus more resources PLUS premade components. So my point is what on earth possesed the devs to give them the same complexity rating, there is no comparison whatsoever between the two !
