Extrusive and Intrusive Ores are subclasses of Igneous Ore. When either of them are recycled, they get converted to generic Igenous ore. Siliclastic and Carbonate are subclasses of Sedimentary Ore, but they do not both become generic Sedimentary Ore when recycled. Carbonate converts to generic Sedimentary as you would expect, but Siliclastic does not shift classes - it just becomes generic Siliclastic that can still be used in slots calling for Siliclastic Ore (Tested by an armorsmith friend of mine on an Electrical Protection Armor Layer).
The droidsmiths seem to be the main profession that specifically uses Siliclastic, so I imagine they may be happy about this, but it seems that it would be upsetting to architects as you cannot combine Carbonate and Siliclastic into one stack of generic Sedimentary to use in a low grade ore slot. Then again, droidsmiths also use a lot of generic low grade ore, so this may be more hurtful than helpful to them as well.
I thought about bugging it in game, but if it is advantagous to crafters, well, I'll just keep my mouth shut.

They are made up of hard to find looted parts. Like the loot kits. Do a quick search of the loot forum and you'll find what you need and which NPC's drop them

I just made a chem recycler. They seem to be all different. My metal recycler will take any metal stacks and turn them into their base classes.. All coppers become copper, steels become steel etc, however the chem recycler will take any chemical, inert petro, polymer, fiberplast, lube oil, fuel and turn it into base REACTIVE chemical. I was hoping it would behave the same way as the metal did so that I could use all my scrap plast and poly to make armor sub components, but alas I can't

Some shift 2 classes (Chemical, Cereals), some shift 1 class (Meat, Gemstoen), and some don't shift at all (Steel, Aluminum). I mapped out all the conversions and everything seems to follow a somewhat logical pattern except Siliclastic Ore. I wanted to bring this to the architect forum to see if it was detrimental to crafting, because it certainly seems buggy when you compare it to the way everything else is recycled. If there is some advantage to the way Siliclastic is converted, then we'll just assume it is "working as intended".

If you have any "unknown sedimentary" or "unknown igenous" can you recycle them and post the results please?

I got a metal recycler and it does NOT make "Recycled steel", sadly it only makes refurbished ferrous and refurbished non-ferrous. Ive got an Master arch/shipwright toon and i mostly was planning on using these for steel and carbonate ore but that wont be possible.
They are still very useful tho. I just need the gas and chem one now to finish the set. And once im done i never want to see another blue wire again... ever. lol

Mine makes Smelted Steel, thats what it says, I dropped Steel into it and it came out Smelted Steel,
Steel = Smelted Steel
Copper = Smelted Copper
Alum = Smelted ALum
Iron = Smelted Iron..

It's the same problem with hide. It turns all hides into Synthesized Hides, instead of Synthesized Wooly Hide, as I would've liked. So far, only the Metal Recycler does what I like, the rest of the Recyclers doesn't convert the resources in a way that I would've hoped for.
