Thread: Changing Construction branch to Customization & Experimentation
I added this suggestion to the week 2 top 5 post, but it's long enough now I think that most people won't read through the whole thread. So I'm posting it here to get feedback. Here's my suggestion on addressing two issues at once:
Change the Construction line to "Customization & Experimentation". The two concepts go together, and would allow us to both experiment and colorize our products. At first level we'd get a bit of experimentation and maybe 2 or 3 color choices for some furniture items.
As we went higher up, we'd get more of both. At level 3, we'd be able to adjust the color of the houses a bit (still fitting in with the overall scheme of them). At level 4 we could even adjust the trim colors of harvesters, which would be great for people who have trouble finding their machines in the crowd of them.
I don't keep a waypoint for every harvester I have. If I have 3 on ore, I just keep one that's in that general area. Sometimes it's like finding a car in a parking lot where everyone drives the same exact thing.
This would make that branch of our tree useful, and even desirable. It would reduce the current practice of architects levelling up every other branch to master first, which they do because it's worthless right now. And it would address the color situation, which currently means everyone's house looks exactly the same, as do harvesters and furniture. If we even had 2 colors to choose from for houses and furniture, it would go a really long way to making people happy.
Ummm I hate to be sarcastic (*snicker*) but, from Zarcath's Week Two post:
"Colorization – Perhaps the most commonly asked question that an Architect receives, currently we are unable to make any color decisions with any of our products. Color options are in great demand, especially in the case of furniture, where more often then not, the default colors are hardly desirable. Lack of color options ruins possible potential sales of furniture. Most people would agree that choice of color, in the real world and in game, is a major factor when making a decision on what to purchase. Item colorization could be implemented in our skill tree through Furniture or Construction trees, in a similar manner like that of the Tailor.
So I think it's kinda HALF covered hehehe.
I saw it was mentioned in his list, which is why I had posted to that thread. I was just trying to suggest a way to solve two problems with one solution, and sort of expand on the ideas already mentioned.
