Today I created a small type 2 Corellian house for a friend of mine who was going to pick it up in a couple of days. I logged off for about 30 minutes and came back to discover that the deed was no longer in my inventory. Is this a bug or are you not able to keep deeds in your inventory?

It's a known bug and pretty much applies to all items. Not just deeds. It should reappear within 12 hours though. If it does not I would submit a ticket about it. All you can do is wait unfortunately.

It's also possible your server had a time rollback. This happens when the server is rebooted and hasn't saved the current information on players. But I assume you would have seen that your resources were still in your inventory.

Ended up being the known bug issue. I left for about 2 hours and when I returned the deed was back in my inventory. Considering how many resources that small house takes that was starting to feel like a critical failure to me. <gasp!>
