Thread: Some architect fixes on way (from dev chat)
Sep 25 19:53:11 [GreenMarine] Very soon, we are reintroducing our company "Bug Day" where everyone focuses on bugs only for one day of the week.
Sep 25 19:53:34 [GreenMarine] things like broken schematics are very easy to fix, they just take some time (the crafting data can be hairy). Bug Day will help us address issues like this much more quickly.
And it will save us a lot of points so that we arent completely worthless in other areas.
I had a hard time believing they could find enough to add to make a whole new profession and I like the idea that it would go to construction. Plus it would satisfy most if not all arch's that the construction line would finally have some use.
The way I read that, "very soon" refers to when Bug Day will start, not when the fixes will be made.
I'm not sure how to quote but...

Sep 25 19:02:57 <Dariuas> *[TMPST]Werzoth* Does the buildings for the city (cantina, hospital, player garage, theater, parks, fountains, etc.) take any lots? Maintenance? Could you explain how the process works with the interaction of politician and urban planner and placing those inside the city?
Sep 25 19:03:01 <GreenMarine> I'll take this one.
Sep 25 19:03:23 <GreenMarine> Structures owned by the city like cloning facilities and shuttleports don't take up lots. Cantinas and hospitals are owned by players and do take up lots.
Sep 25 19:03:32 <GreenMarine> For city structures, maintenance is paid by the city as a lump sum.
Sep 25 19:03:46 <GreenMarine> Cities can charge various taxes to help pay for the maintenance.
Sep 25 19:04:23 <GreenMarine> Initially, politician will be focused on running the city. They gain various abilities to enhance the city, etc.
Sep 25 19:05:17 <GreenMarine> Urban Planner...I'm still not sure how this profession will happen. It may be that we go with putting the new schematics into architect instead. It's still being discussed.

Urban planner my just end up being a title you get instead of "foreman" at the top of construction, and construction may end up being filled with urban planner stuff.
I would love to see the Urban Planner schematics just placed in the Architect tree. If they make it another profession people will just train it, make some structures, then un-train it.
I hope the 'Bug Day' is soon, like Monday!

That woudl be wonderful. Kill 2 birds with one stone. Make Construction useful and give us the urban planner stuff without requiring more skill points. Plus no grinding up a skill tree with items that have very limited demand. I'll keep my fingers crossed but from what I know about SOE so far, I wont' hold my breath.
